Mangaluru, Apr 20: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is all set to commence its reinvestigation into the mysterious death of former Mangaluru Khazi CM Abdulla Moulavi in 2010, after a court in Eranakulam on the other day ordered for a probe into the incident.

abdullahThe Eranakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court order on Friday last came while disposing of a petition by CA Mohammed Shafi, son of the late spiritual leader.

The court, while pronouncing its ruling, termed as “premature” the CBI's earlier finding that Abdulla Moulavi had committed suicide, while he was presumably on a morning stroll on the beach.

The dead body of CM Abdulla Moulavi was found in the sea near a big rock in Chembirikka in Kasargod early morning on February 15, 2010. His sandals and walking stick were found kept on the rock. The local police investigated the case for 16 days and reached the conclusion that he had committed suicide.

Couplet treated as suicide note'!

Several factors led the local police to reach to the conclusion – a note about death was found from the Khazi's diary, he had bought a new lock for his room and had visited his father's burial place climbing 30 steps the day before death. In fact the note found in his diary was reportedly the Malayalam translation of a few lines about death from the book Burda Baith'. The Crime Branch too said the same after doing a dummy test also in the same place where the dead body was found. The case was then handed over to the CBI.

The CBI also said that the Khazi was mentally and physically weak due to his health problems such as cancer for the liver etc. Treatments undertaken in several places such as Vellore were in vain and he even began meeting some people hoping to get relief. At last he resorted to suicide, says the CBI report.

However, those who counter the reports say that the aged Khazi who always has to use walking stick cannot climb on the top of the rock to jump to the sea. They say that a scholar like him did not have any necessity or situations to commit suicide. They also say that the local police was trying to write off the mysterious death as suicide to protect certain people's interests.

The Moulavi was a famous scholar and vice-president of the Samastha Kerala Jamiyathul Ulema (EK faction). The organisation had protested against the different media reports that came suggesting that the Khazi had committed suicide.

Police were in a hurry to close the case might be under pressure. Let CBP conduct fair enquiry and let the world come to know the fact. Suicide is nearly unimaginable. the Scholar will no way that he came to that decision.

Bengaluru, Apr 29: Janata Dal-Secular leader and former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Tuesday accused the central government of writing off loans of those who are facing charges of fraud.

In a series of tweets, Kumaraswamy slammed the central government.

"Really? At a time when the whole world is worried about unprecedented economic emergency, writing off Rs 68,000 crore loans of willful big fish defaulters became the best antidote to the economic crisis? And how is 50k cr package to mutual funds going to help the common man?" he tweeted.

In another tweet, Kumaraswamy said that "Billionaire scamsters like Vijay Mallya, Mehul Choksy, Sanjay Junjunwala seem to be very dear to this government".

"Na khaunga, na khane dunga" is yet another jumla unraveled. Billionaire scamsters like Vijay Malya, Mehul Choksy, Sanjay Junjunwala seem to be very dear to this government. The poor are dying by the roadside, farmers are desperate, the middle class is faced with economic doom.

The government has done little to help. But it writes off loans of those who are facing charges of fraud! What patriotism! What nationalism!" he tweeted.

Following the blast, Harris and a few others who standing close to the MLA sustained burn injuries and rushed to the nearby Philomena Hospital immediately and police officials from both the Ashok Nagar and Vivek Nagar visited the spot. The police officials are yet to confirm whether it was a bomb blast or due to the bursting of loud and powerful crackers.

A team of forensic science lab experts have also been summoned to the spot to collect samples for ascertaining the nature of the blast. MLA Harris’s son Mohammed Nalapad who rushed to the hospital along with supporters told media persons that they are completely shocked by the incident.

“He was sitting on a chair and suddenly something that was hurled at him exploded beneath the chair. He sustained injuries to his leg and brought to the hospital. He is being treated by a team of doctors and other injured supporters are also being attended to by the doctors,” Nalapad said.

Expressing shock over the incident, he said, “My father has been an MLA for 12-years and nothing of this sort had happened before in the constituency. We have no rivals and my father never had any gunmen. We are all shocked and have complained to the jurisdictional police.”

Meantime, Dr Shankar Prasad, Medical Director, St Philomena’s Hospital explained that Harris and others are currently being treated for minor injuries. “None of them have any open cut injuries and they are being examined further,” Dr Prasad told DH.

Chitradurga, Feb 10: President of the BJP State unit Nalin Kumar Kateel on Sunday hit out at Congress leader M. Mallikarjun Kharge for allegedly likening Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a “zero candle bulb”.

Mr. Kateel told reporters here that Mr. Modi was a “1,000 watt bulb that gave light to the world”, and compared Mr. Kharge to a lamp that had burned out politically.

Mr. Kateel charged that Mr. Kharge had become frustrated after losing the elections and after his party did not even consider him for a Rajya Sabha seat. And this had made the Congress leader to make wild charges against the Prime Minister.

Lashing out at the Congress, Mr. Kateel alleged that the Congress was continuing the “divide and rule” policy of the British and accused the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda of being the “other face of the Congress”.

Mr. Kateel also came down on the former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He ridiculed the Congress for the delay in choosing a new KPCC chief after Dinesh Gundu Rao submitted his resignation.
