Mangaluru, Aug 16: Claiming that investigation agencies have found enough material to declare Popular Front of India as an anti-national terror outfit, Saffron leaders have urged the government to ban the organisation and invoke the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) against all its leaders.

Addressing a media conference called by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal in the city on Wednesday, VHP leader Jagadish Shenava, who is also an advocate, said that the arrest of a PFI leader in RSS worker Sharath Madiwala murder case has once again proved that the outfit believes in violence.

“This is not the first case. The accused in the murder cases of Bajrang Dal activist Prashant Poojary (Moodbidri), RSS worker Rudresh (Bengaluru), Raju (Mysuru) also belong to PFI,” he said said.

“It is high time that union and state governments ban PFI and other outfits that have connections with it. Those organisations are trying to divide the country and destroy harmony in the society. All the leaders of such organisations should be arrested,” he demanded.

VHP district secretary Gopal Kuthar and Bajrang Dal DK district convenor Bhujanga Kulal were present among others at the press meet.

If government listens to these saffron terrorists,  then there will be no justice left in India.  People will start taking law in their hands.  First arrest these saffron terrorists.  Let India live with peace.

New Delhi, Jan 15: A Delhi court on Wednesday granted bail to Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad in connection with the Daryaganj violence case.

The court has ordered him not to hold any protest in Delhi till February 16th.

While hearing the case, the Judge had asked Azad's counsel to read out some of his social media posts.

Advocate Mehmood Pracha, representing Azad, had on Tuesday said that the petitioner was sent to jail without any evidence in connection with anti-CAA protests in Delhi's Darya Ganj area last year.

"I think the court's comments should become a precedent for the country. The Public Prosecutor at the behest of police tried to make this a communal issue. We told the court that the government has a problem with Azad because he made the CAA-NPR-NRC an issue for everyone.
The Court also sought evidence," Pracha told ANI after Delhi's Tis Hazari court deferred the bail plea of Azad till today.

On Wednesday, the court pulled up the Delhi Police for failing to show any evidence against Azad.

Azad was arrested on December 21 last year after he led a march from Jama Masjid against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act. He was sent to judicial custody till January 18 at Tihar jail.

The Bhim Army chief was charged with rioting, unlawful assembly and inciting the mob to indulge in violence after vandalism in Delhi's Daryaganj area.

Bengaluru, May 27: Amid uncertainty caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which has disrupted school education in Karnataka, the state government is seeking the help of the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to televise classes, a state minister said on Tuesday.

"We request you to provide minimum three channels on the Doordarshan network exclusively for the Department of Public Instruction, Government of Karnataka," Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumar said in a letter to Union I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar.

Suggesting co-branding the channels under DD and the state education department, he asked for the channels to be mandatorily transmitted by the cable and DTH operators under the Cable Act.

The state education department has already discussed with Prasar Bharti officials, who, according Kumar, have assured 3+3 hours of timeslots on the education channel Chandana on cost basis.

"We have also made all the necessary arrangements for content creation by the teachers," he said.

Meanwhile, the minister has revealed that television is the best medium for the students as a home learning mode in these challenging times.

"The department of public instruction reviewed various technological options and considered TV as one of the best means for home learning," Kumar said.

In a survey conducted by the education department, it was found out that 95 per cent households had television sets.

Kumar said the state operates government schools in nine languages, including Kannada, English and Urdu.

"To cater to all the students, and considering a long-term strategy to run schools by maintaining social distancing, we are in immediate need of minimum three exclusive channels to teach through TV," he said.

According to Kumar, the Karnataka government is facing hardships to meet the capital expenditure requirements, hence, it is seeking help from the I&B Ministry.
