Bengaluru, Aug 10: Sixteen years after Karnataka faced serial bombings by Deendar Channabasaveshwara Anjuman, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) sleuths have arrested Sheikh Amir Ali, a beggar and prime suspect in the case.

AmirAliPolice sources said that for the past couple of years, Ali had been living a mendicant's life and surviving on alms

The 50-year-old beggar is wanted in four blast cases in Karnataka and Maharashtra, police said. The Karnataka CID team picked him up from a hideout in Nalagonda, Andhra Pradesh.

The Ist Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court in Bengaluru had issued a non-bailable warrant against Ali. The blasts were triggered by men owing allegiance to Deendar Channabasaveshwara Anjuman, a terror outfit banned in 1948.

The explosion in Bengaluru occurred in a church in JJ Nagar on the night of July 9, 2000, damaging it partly. Twenty-nine persons were arrested and the court convicted 23 of them. Eleven convicts were awarded death sentence, while 12 were sentenced to life imprisonment.

Similar blasts were triggered in Hubballi and Wadi around the same time and investigations proved the involvement of Ali and others. Of the seven fugitives, five are settled in Pakistan and one is absconding.

According to police sources, Ali had supplied explosive material to Hashim Ali from Andhra Pradesh, who assembled it to prepare the bombs.

Deendar Anjuman

Deendar Anjuman or Deendar Channabasaveshwara Anjuman was founded by Hazrath Moulana Siddique - alias Deendar Channabasaveshwara - at Bellampet, Gulbarga district, in 1924. Its head office was at Asif Nagar, Hyderabad. Though the organisation operated behind the façade of establishing religious equality, it had a hidden terror agenda, which is widely condemned by Muslims.

Terror track

1. On June 8, 2000, two crude bombs were set off at Saint Anne's Church in Wadi, Gulbarga District. The church was damaged and two persons were injured.

2. On July 9, 2000, bombs were set off at St Peter Paul Church in Jagajeevanaramnagar, Bengaluru.

3. On July 8, 2000, the group triggered off bombs blasts at the St John Luthern Church in Hubli. Sixteen persons faced trial in the case.

4. The final blast occurred when a bomb went off accidentally while the terrorists were transporting them in a Maruti van on July 9.

Muslims should know what exactly Holy Quran & Authentic Hadees says. Rather start following WRONG religious leaders though their life style or preaching against Quran & Hadees. Eventually innocent people loose their life and muslim community name gets spoiled bcoz of some BLACK SHEEP in the community.

Bengaluru, Apr 28: Karnataka has found that the rapid antibody test kits for COVID-19 that the Centre supplied to the state have only 47% sensitivity. The state will be returning the kits to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Karnataka had received 11,400 rapid antibody test kits from the ICMR a few days back, out of which it had sent around 200 of them to NIMHANS for validation.

After the ICMR, on Monday, sent a circular to all states to return the test kits to the suppliers, Dr CN Manjunath, Director, Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, and nodal officer for lab testing in the state's COVID-19 task force, said, "We have cancelled the orders we placed to Guangzhou Wondfo Biotech and Zhuhai Livzon Diagnostics for one lakh rapid antibody test kits. Since the ICMR supplied us with 11,400 kits out of the 6.5 lakh kits it procured, we will be returning the kits to them."

Manjunath told said that the validation at NIMHANS revealed the kits to have only 47% sensitivity. Sensitivity is the ability of a test to identify the true-positives in a population, i.e., the actual number of people who've been infected with the disease. With the rapid antibody testing kits being shelved, the state's plan to randomly test high risk groups has taken a backseat.

So far, the state has tested 43,791 samples.

Karnataka now has 22 testing facilities -- 14 government and seven private labs. Many private labs have not tested any samples so far because of the lack of test kits (the state has made it clear that it will not provide test kits to private labs). So, getting an ICMR approval for testing has become a moot point.p

Agreeing to the setback the state's plans of ramping up testing has taken, Manjunath said, "It is true that RT-PCR test kits are in shortage. Even Pune's Mylabs had a shortage in supplying test kits. But we are relying on institutes like Kidwai, Narayana Health and Biocon's Syngene that have received approval for testing. They're big institutes and we hope that they will test a large number of samples."

On reports that the Centre has RT-PCR test kits that will last for only a week, he said, "We have test kits that will last for eight to 10 days. We have ordered for more. We are hoping to receive them before the current kits run out."

Chennai, July 27: Multi-lingual actress Vijayalakshmi, who attempted suicide yesterday, alleging harassment and bullying by followers of Naam Thamizhar party leader Seeman and Panankattu Padai’s Hari Nadar, is recuperating at a hospital in Chennai.

Vijayalakshmi is known for films like Friends and Boss Engira Baskaran. She recently made headlines for speaking against Seeman and the torture she was allegedly facing from the actor-turned-politician and his party.

In the video which was uploaded on Sunday evening, Vijayalakshmi said, “This is my last video and I have been in tremendous stress in the last four months because of Seeman and his partymen. I tried my level best to survive all these days because of my mother and sister, but I have been humiliated in the media by Harinadar recently.”

She added, “I would like to tell fans who are watching the video just because I was born in Karnataka, Seeman has tortured me a lot. As a woman, I have put up with it to my highest capabilities. I won’t be able handle the pressure anymore. I am from the Pillai community, the same community LTTE leader Prabhakaran is part of. Prabhakaran is the only reason Seeman is who he is today, but now he has been harassing me on social media continuously. You slut shamed me to make me feel the pain and it is up to me to decide on what to do after facing such insults from you. I request my fans not to let Seeman get away from this case. He should never get anticipatory bail. My death should be a big eye-opener to everyone. I don’t want to be a slave to anybody.”
