Delhi Elections 2015: Complaint in court against AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi, Jan 30: A criminal complaint was today filed in a Delhi court seeking action against AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal for exhorting voters in his election speeches to take bribes from BJP and Congress but vote for his party.

The complaint filed in the court at Tis Hazari by Arun Kumar, a practicing lawyer, accused Kejriwal of deliberately abetting bribery.

Kumar alleged that Kejriwal, despite himself being Delhi's ex-chief minister and knowing the fact that acceptance of bribe is punishable under law, instigated the voters to do such a thing.

The complaint sought Kejriwal's prosecution for abetment, offering or accepting bribe and punishment for bribery under Indian Penal Code.

The Election Commission has already issued three notices to Kejriwal, asking him to "desist" from making such comments on bribing of voters by political parties and warned him of strict action in the event of any violation.

The poll panel had issued notice to the AAP leader on January 18, January 23 and January 27 on the same issue.

Guwahati, Jan 26: Four powerful grenade explosions--three in Dibrugarh and one in Charaideo districts--rocked Assam Sunday morning as the country celebrated Republic Day, police said.

In Dibrugarh district, an explosion took place at Graham Bazar and another beside a gurudwara on A T Road, both under Dibrugarh police station.

Another explosion rocked the oil town of Duliajan whose details are still awaited, police said.

Another explosion rocked Teok Ghat under Sonari police station of Charaideo district, they said.

Senior officials have rushed to the explosion sites and details of casualty are awaited, police added.

New Delhi, Apr 13: India's tally of positive COVID-19 cases rose to 9,152 following an increase of 796 cases in the last 24 hours, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Monday.

Out of the total number of cases, 7,987 patients are active cases while 857 cases have been cured/discharged and migrated.

With 35 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll mounted to 308.

According to the ministry, Maharashtra remained at the top with the total cases at 1,985, including 217 patients who have recovered/discharged and 149 patients died.

Delhi's tally of positive COVID-19 cases rose to 1,154 cases, including 27 recovered and 24 patients succumbing to the virus.

Tamil Nadu too reported 1,075 cases, including 50 recovered and 11 patients dead.

Meanwhile, four states have crossed the 500 mark with regards to the total number of cases as Rajasthan recorded 804 cases, Madhya Pradesh with 532 cases, Gujarat with 516 cases and Telangana with 504 cases, as per the ministry.

New Delhi, Apr 17: Prime minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held talks with Jordan King Abdullah II and discussed the challenges posed to the world by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The two leaders discussed the challenges posed to the world by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the steps being taken in their respective countries to limit its impact," an official statement said.

Prime Minister conveyed his greetings to Abdullah II and the people of Jordan for the upcoming Holy month of Ramadan which commences late next week.

The leaders agreed that their teams would remain in touch on issues related to COVID-19, as well as on other regional and global issues.
