Deve Gowda would have solved Kashmir issue if continued as PM: Pejawar seer

Udupi, May 15: Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, who offered prayers at the Sri Krishna temple here on Tuesday, earned the praise of Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Pejawar Mutt.

Mr. Gowda called on the seer to wish him on his 88th birthday. Swami said Mr. Gowda had solved many problems of the country during his short tenure as Prime Minister. “Had Mr. Gowda continued as Prime Minister, he would have solved the Kashmir problem,” he said.

Earlier, Mr. Gowda held talks with the Pejawar seer. Speaking to presspersons, the Pejawar seer said that when Mr. Gowda was Prime Minister, he had provided land to the seer at Delhi. The seer said he had explained developmental and other activities being taken up by the mutt on this land. Mr. Gowda told presspersons that he was taking Ayurveda treatment at Mulloor and that he did not wish to talk about politics.

Mr Gowda also met Vidyadheesha Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Palimar Mutt and received “mantrakshathe”.

Not just Kashmir, he would have solved a lot of issues. He was removed from his post, as he did not accept the demands of crony capitalists backed by north Indian politics. Kannadigas should prefer Kannadigas for their leader. Karnataka has all the resources to run and function independently as a nation, and we will be so much better.

Bengaluru, Apr 15: Amir-e-Shariat Maulana Sagir Ahmad Khan Rashadi, Maulanaon Wednesday urged people to compulsorily follow the lockdown restrictions during the month of Ramdan.

Ramazan fastings should not be missed without valid reasons. As already mentioned, five namaz of the day should be performed at home and do not go to Mosques.

Taraweeh Namaz should be performed at home along with family members, he said at a meeting of Imarat-e-Sharia leaders held at Darul Uloom Sabilurrashad (Arabic College) in the city.

Bengaluru, May 27: Amidst helpless calls for learning to live with coronavirus and make a new beginning, the government of Karnataka is considering to reopen schools in the state from July 1.

Primary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar discussed the issue with the officials from the department at a meeting held on Tuesday. 

The expert committee in its report submitted to the Union Ministry for Human Resource Development recommended reopening of schools on July 1. The state department of primary and secondary education also discussed the issue. 

However, no decision has been taken yet and final decision is expected to out in a day or two. A source said that since the timetable for SSLC examination had been published and the lockdown was expected to be lifted after May 31, it had been planned to reopen the schools on July 1.

Following the recent representation by several academicians and social activists urging to cancel SSLC exams, the primary education minister met chief minister and briefed him about preparations for the safe conduct of exams.

“As of now there will not be any changes in SSLC exam schedule. We have reviewed the situation and preparations are underway for ensuring safety of children,” the source added. 

The report submitted by Nimhans about online education is yet to reach the secretariat.

Haveri, Jan 16: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Wednesday hinted at inducting 16 MLAs into the Cabinet which was due for expansion despite the fact that it was a difficult task.

Participating in a function of Choudayya Community here, he further said one should understand the difficulty faced to undertake cabinet expansion in the prevailing situation and whoever gives suggestion should understand the circumstances otherwise the statements would lead to confusion among the community and people of the state.

He stated that 'as many as 17 MLAs resigned to make me Chief Minister and now their community people want their leader to become Minister, it is very difficult to satisfy all of them'.
