Mudigere, Jan 13: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje has urged the police not to arrest “innocents” in connection with the death of Dhanyashree, who had committed suicide last week after being tortured and threatened by the goons of saffron outfits.

Addressing presspersons during her visit to Mudigere, the hardline BJP leader said the police have arrested persons who had been to the girl’s place to “console” her.

When a few media persons questioned her whether she knows the difference between harassing and consoling, Karandlaje said that Congress was trying to politicise the issue.

“The people responsible for her death should be punished, but innocents should not face any difficulty,” she maintained.

She had spoken to the Superintendent of Police Annamalai about the incident. “I did speak to the girl’s mother as well. Whatever details I collected from her, I have shared the same with the police officer. The Congress government should stop politicising the incident,” Karandlaje said.

The 20-year-old student of Mudigere’s DSBG College had committed suicide on January 6, unable to bear the harassment by Hindutva goons. She was repeatedly warned by activists of BJP and Bajrang Dal against praising Muslims and befriending Muslim boys.

In her death note Dhanyashree had named five Hindutva activists who had barged into her house and threatened her. However, according to Karandlaje, the Hindutva activists had visited her house to console her!

What is wrong with Shobakka, let police do their work why she is interfering, Annamalai is not giving any importance to her.  Actually she want to become a Minister.  If her own party people involved, she say they are innocent.  What type of monopoly is this ? Why Yeddi is not advising her to keep quite.

Bengaluru, Mar 13: Google said on Friday that an employee at its Bengaluru office has tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus and the firm has directed all its employees in that office to work from home today as a precautionary measure.

"We can confirm that an employee from our Bangalore office has been diagnosed with COVID-19. They were in one of our Bangalore offices for a few hours before developing any symptoms. The employee has been on quarantine since then," Google said in a statement.

The firm has asked colleagues who were in close contact with the employee to quarantine themselves and monitor their health.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we are asking employees in that Bangalore office to work from home on Friday. We have taken and will continue to take all necessary precautionary measures, following the advice of public health officials, as we prioritize everyone's health and safety," it added.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic.

Mangaluru, May 19: In a bizarre incident which exposes the publicity craze of “philanthropists”, members of a city-based organisation returned without disturbing grocery kits after villagers refused to be photographed while receiving them.

The incident took place at Mukrampady village in Puttur a few days ago. According to sources, a team belonging to an organisation from Mangaluru had visited the village with a letter from their organisation, to distribute grocery kits to families near mosques in the month of Ramadan.

The team members reportedly insisted the beneficiaries to pose for pictures with the team near a mosque while being given the food kit. The villagers refused to fulfil their wish.

The organisation members then left the place without handing over the Ramadan kits, sources said.

Bengaluru, Jul 4: A young woman doctor at the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, Bengaluru, who had raised an alarm about faulty PPE kits and shortage of N95 masks, has tested positive for the covid-19.

Taking note of this, Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha brought the issue to the attention on Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Twitter. Tagging the minister, the MP tweeted, “For your information and I feel, it is a genuine concern.” “Amulya Gowda treated Covid patients at KIMS.

Karnataka Medical Association took to social media to express concern over the development. In a Facebook post it wrote: "Amulya C Gowda is a frontline worker who risks her life every single day. Last week she raised an alarm about faulty PPE kits and shortage of N-95 masks. But the Administrative Medical Officer (AMO) at KIMS, shunned and chastised her for raising this issue. Ever since, she has been buying her own N-95 masks. Today, she tested positive for Covid-19 and appealed to the Hospital authorities and raised her genuine concerns over the faulty protective gear, but she was again harassed and humiliated for raising the issue."

Dr DH Ashwath Narayana, Medical Superintendent, KIMS Hospital, said that all PPE kits at KIMS were certified by SITRA (South India Textiles Research Association), Coimbatore and that they had purchased N-95 masks available in the market. "One cannot claim faulty PPEs are the reason for testing positive. We have purchased whatever PPE kits are available in the market. Healthcare workers across hospitals, private and government, and policemen are also getting infected."

As the new rules by the state government allow healthcare workers home isolation, Narayana said the doctor is recuperating at home and that she is doing fine.

Medical education minister Dr K Sudhakar tweeted, "Doctors are our frontline warriors battling the pandemic. Government has taken all necessary measures to ensure safety of our doctors. I have taken note of supply of defective masks and PPE kits to KIMS doctors and ordered an enquiry. Management will be held responsible if found guilty."
