Mangaluru, Jul 26: Chief Minister Siddaramiah on Wednesday took a dig at media for “officially declaring” forest minister B Ramanath Rai as the next home minister of Karnataka.

Responding to the media reports on new home minister after a cabinet meeting, Siddaramiah said that there are three vacant ministerial berths in the state cabinet apart from home ministry.
“We have to fill three more vacancies before taking a final decision on home portfolio,” said Siddaramaiah questing the media houses when did he tell them that Rai would be taking over the home portfolio.
“We have not yet taken a final decision on cabinet expansion. Hence, now I cannot declare who will be the next home minister,” he said.
Rai’s closed-door meeting with Siddaramaiah late on Tuesday had fuelled speculation that he may be named the next home minister. However, when contacted over phone, Rai was non-committal. “I will abide by the decision of the high command and the chief minister,” he said.
