Udupi, Nov 21: Vishwesha Tirtha Swami, the chief pontiff of Paryaya Pejawar Mutt stated that he did not invite Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah to Krishna temple during latter’s recent Udupi visit because he had ignored the previous invitations.

Replying to media persons questions on the sidelines of Haji Abdullah child and mother’s hospital inauguration in Udupi on Sunday, the CM had clarified that he never deliberately avoided visiting Krishna temple/mutt. He had also said that this time he did not get any invitation from the temple.

The seer on Monday said: “I have invited the CM many times but he ignored us and that's why this time I didn't call him.”

“When we know that CM is not interested in visiting the Krishna mutt, why should we call him again and again? During every visit to Udupi, we have sent him an invitation to visit the mutt but he never turned up. Now, it’s up to him. I don't think he'll come in the future too," the seer claimed.

"Whenever I meet him outside, we speak but I have no idea what's his problem. Maybe it's because he listens to intellectuals who don't like the Krishna Mutt or the Pejawar seer and has decided not to visit the mutt," added the seer, who is also a well-wisher of BJP ‘margdarshak’ of many saffron outfits.

Thanks CD for letting us know the true version of the story. Some media portrayed as if chief minister told lies. Her it is very clear. Let Pejawar seer stop Made-Snana, Pankti Bheda etc uncultured practices then send invitation to a leader like Siddaramaiah.

Mangaluru, Jul 4: Normal life was thrown out of gear as heavy rain under the influence of South East Monsoon started lashing coastal districts of Karnataka including Dakshina Kannada on Saturday.

The heavy rain is likely to continue till July 7, according to the meteorological experts.

The water level in Netravati river is increasing and district administration has warned the people living in the low lying areas and has asked them to move to safer places.

Owing to lack of storm water drains, water logging of the roads inconvenienced the motorists at KS Rao Road, Pumpwell, Bejai, and other areas.

The Met department sounded warning for fishermen not to venture into the sea observing that strong winds with speed reaching 50-60 kmph are likely to prevail over Southwest and West Central Arabian Sea till July 5.

Bengaluru, Aug 4 : Without mentioning any party leader's name, Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar on Monday appealed to Congress workers not to make any "defamatory statement" against any political leader on social media platforms.

Taking to Twitter, Shivakumar wrote, "I appeal to Congress workers not to make defamatory statements against any political leader, on matters of health and other issues on social media platforms. It is not in our culture to wish bad for others. Congress is a party that exemplifies brotherhood and humanity."

His statement comes days after Rajya Sabha MP and AICC in-charge for Gujarat, Rajiv Satav comment where he suggested that introspection in the party should begin from the time of the United Progressive Alliance -II government.

Later, Satav took to Twitter to clarify his remarks at Thursday's meeting of the party's Upper House MPs. Satav, through a series of tweets on Saturday, said he was not comfortable discussing what goes on inside party meetings in forums outside.
