Diwali getaway: Dubai, Goa top search list for Indians

Mumbai, Oct 15: With Diwali round the corner, which can get you a long weekend this year, Dubai has topped the list of popular searches for out-bound destinations for Indians while Goa stays on top domestically, says a report.

For the upcoming long Diwali weekend, Dubai is the top searched out-bound destination for Indians while Goa continues to rule on the domestic front, showed search results by Hotels.com.

Udaipur in Rajasthan, Mumbai and Delhi have also featured in the top 10 list.

Among the out-bound destinations, Bali in Indonesia, Phuket and Bangkok in Thailand and Singapore are the other top destinations Indians are exploring, it said.

The findings of the report are based on actual searches on Hotels.com from January 1 to September 30 for travel during October 30 to November 3.

It also found that there is a surge in searches for destinations like Baa Atoll (Maldives), which grew by 498 per cent over last year followed by Vienna in Austria, Gurugram (in NCR), Kolkata in West Bengal and Barcelona in Spain.

Hotels.com LP operates Hotels.com, a leading online accommodation booking website, with properties ranging from international chains and all-inclusive resorts to local favourites with bed and breakfast.

Siddaramaiah says BJP trying to destabilise Congress government in Rajasthan

Bengaluru, Jul 28: Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Monday alleged that BJP is trying to destabilise the Congress government in Rajasthan.

"It is the duty of the Governor to act according to the decision of the state cabinet. But he is acting like a central government puppet," he said at a protest organised here by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).

He said the Congress is protesting across the country to save democracy and save the constitution.

"We are not fighting through violence. We are protesting peacefully. The Constitution has given the right to protest in a democratic system," he said.

He accused the BJP of "being disrespectful" to the Constitution.

"Governments must walk within the framework of the Constitution. The Constitution gives everyone rights and duties. BJP destabilises elected governments and buys our legislators by horse-trading by spending crores of money. The same thing happened in Karnataka as well," he alleged.

Tesla 'Very Close' To Level 5 Autonomous Driving Technology, Says Elon Musk

U.S. electric vehicle maker Tesla Inc is "very close" to achieving level 5 autonomous driving technology, Chief Executive Elon Musk said on Thursday, referring to the capability to navigate roads without any driver input.

"I'm extremely confident that level 5 or essentially complete autonomy will happen and I think will happen very quickly," Musk said in remarks made via a video message at the opening of Shanghai's annual World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC).

"I remain confident that we will have the basic functionality for level 5 autonomy complete this year."

Automakers and tech companies including Alphabet Inc Waymo and Uber Technologies are investing billions in the autonomous driving industry.

However industry insiders have said it would take time for the technology to get ready and public to trust autonomous vehicles fully.

The California-based automaker currently builds cars with an Autopilot driver-assistance system.

Tesla is also developing new heat-projection or cooling systems to enable more advanced computers in cars, Musk said.

Industry data showed Tesla sold nearly 15,000 China-made Model 3 sedans last month.

Tesla has become the highest-valued automaker as its shares surged to record highs and its market capitalisation overtook that of former front-runner Toyota Motors Corp.

Coronavirus: Kerala Police does the 'handwashing' dance

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 18: To raise awareness about protective measures against coronavirus, Kerala Police released a dance video on the State Police Media Centre's Facebook page promoting the washing of hands, here on Tuesday.

In the video, the police officers were seen dancing to the tunes of Kalakkatha from the Malayalam action-drama thriller Ayyappanum Koshiyum while demonstrating the right technique for washing hands.

The video gained over 27,000 likes and over 2,400 comments and more than 33,000 netizens shared the video.

The video has received a positive response with users congratulating Kerala Police for the initiative.

"Congrats Kerala police media for this kind of initiative," one user commented on Facebook. Another user thanked the police in the comments section saying, "Super super thanks to KL (Kerala) police."

The number of people who have tested positive for the coronavirus in Kerala is 25.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in India has reached 147, including 122 Indians and 25 foreign nationals, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare earlier today.

Globally, the virus has infected more than 184,000 people and killed more than 7500, as per the data available on the World Health Organisation website.
