DK, Udupi Sahebaan community in Abu Dhabi organizes excursion

Abu Dhabi: The Sahebaan Community hailing from the districts of DK and Udupi, organized a day long picnic for the community members at Al Wathba Park, Abu Dhabi on Friday 27th November 2015.

The event turned out to be a grand success, with over 350 community members of all age groups and from all over UAE participating with great enthusiasm and enjoying the day which was filled with fun and games.

The members of the community enthusiastically assembled at the venue early in the morning and were treated to a hearty round of breakfast and tea.

The event began with Janab Suhail Kudroli welcoming all the community members. The games were kick started by Janab Mohammed Asif. To ensure that each and every member takes active participation, all attendees were provided with colored bands thus grouping them into four teams based on the color Red, Yellow, Green and Blue.

This inculcated Team spirit and networking amongst all the participants. To break the ice a warm up game of dodge ball was conducted for ladies and gents separately. All the games were played on points system and based on their performance the points were allocated. The group with the maximum accumulated points at the end of the day would be declared the winner.

Various fun filled team games were conducted throughout the day for Gents such as passing the Ball, Passing the rope, T-Shirt passing and Tug of War, but the Star attraction was the Dizzy bat race which was played again by popular demand.

For ladies games such as Hoola Hoop, Passing the Ball, bursting the balloon, Quiz and Tug of War was conducted. The kids were segregated under two age groups i.e. 3 yrs – 7yrs & 8yrs – 13yrs. Various games such as three legged race, lemon and spoon, Musical Hoola Hoop, Sack race and running race was conducted. The games were thoroughly enjoyed by all with active participation and it turned out to be a memorable picnic.

The entire picnic was efficiently planned and coordinated by Althaf M.S., Ajmal Ahmed, Mohammed Akram, Mohammed Hanif, Faizaan Khateeb, Saleem Sheik and Mohammed Yunus under the direction and guidance of Janab Siraj Ahmed, Mohammed Asif, Suhail Kudroli and and Yunus Sheik. Volunteers such as Amjad Khalife, Mohammed Iqbal, Mohammed Javid and Mohammed Azim aptly assisted Team Sahebaan in conducting the event.

The ladies events was planned and coordinated by Reena Althaf, Shamshad Sajid, Mrs Asmath Ara Ajmal, Shadman Zubair, Safia Hanif and Mubeena Rafiq under the guidance of Mrs. Samreen Suhail and Aneesa Yunus. The Kids events were managed by Anushka Yunus, Meenaz Nazir, Afroze Mustafa, Reeha Althaf and Aida Ajmal.

A sumptuous lunch was served by Indian Palace Restaurant (Sharjah), the morning breakfast was catered by M/s Spice land and the audio system was provided by Mr. Joel of Abu Dhabi.

Prominent Sahebaan Community members such as Janab Abu Mohammed, Zubair Aziz, Rizwan Aziz, Mr. Zahiruddin, Mr. Mateen Ahmed and Mrs Dilshad Nissar Ahmed graced the occasion. The picnic concluded with prize distribution to the various winners and gifts to the child participants.

Kuwait: State of Karnataka is enriched with Daasa culture, which had contributed immensely to its literature, culture, art & philosophy. Daasa tradition in Karnataka was part of the Bhakti movement which flourished from around 15th century and it extended considerable spiritual influence over the masses. Kuwait Kannada Koota, a socio-cultural association for the people of Karnataka in Kuwait, organized its annual Daasotsava on 14th February 2020 in remembrance of these saints, thereby displaying the rich cultural heritage of the state. 

The program started with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath, convener of cultural committee. Divine invocation prayer by Mrs. Vasantha Ashok and Mrs. Sandhya Arun set the trend for the event. This was followed by lighting of the traditional lamp by the 2020 executive committee, comprising of President Mr. Rajesh Vittal, Vice President Mr. Sandeep Chabba, General Secretary Mr. Praveen Kumar Shetty and Treasurer Mr. Pradeep Rao. President, while welcoming the gathering, spoke about the importance of Daasas in Kannada literature & history and briefed about the series of upcoming programs. Cultural programs started with fancy dress competition by Koota children comprising of all age group starting from infants to elder kids. This program stole the show as the efforts & time invested by children and their parents were clearly visible. 

2019 executive committee was felicitated by the current committee for wonderfully managing Koota affairs & programs. This was followed by the release of Koota magazine “Marala Mallige", comprising of informative articles, drawings, poems etc., entirely contributed by the association members. Event’s main attraction “Vrindavana Leelavarana", a colorful dance drama spectacularly portrayed by 54 Koota children, was very well appreciated & received by the attendees. Association children who successfully completed 10th and 12th were felicitated as a token of encouragement. Executive committee gave away prizes to Kids who excelled in the stage competitions held earlier. Audience was treated to a divine and melodious Bhajan program conducted astutely by the ladies & men. Koota women performed Bhajan Kolata, along with ladies bhajan, in a well-coordinated manner. Vote of thanks was proposed by the secretary of Koota, thanking those who contributed for the success of the event. Another attraction was a quiz competition “Rasa Prashne", conducted efficiently between the programs, by Mr. Mahesh Shiramgond. 

The whole event was planned and executed astutely by the cultural committee under the leadership of Convener, Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath. Public Relations Committee, led by Mrs. Suparna Dambal, welcomed the members in a vibrant & colorful way, showcasing a beautifully erected divine mantap. The event was sponsored by Unimoni, LIC HFL, VSPL, Geetherb, Kotak Life Insurance, Joy Alukkas, Lulu Hypermarket & Total Environment. The program ended with a sumptuous satvik lunch, sponsored by the senior Koota member, Mr. Ramachandran Seetharaman.

Riyadh, Jan 28: The celebration of the 71st Republic Day was held on January 26th by the Central Committee of the Indian Social Forum Riyadh at the Ramada Hotel Auditorium in Riyadh. People from different Indian states and different religious backgrounds were present during the event.

The program was inaugurated with the unity song, Saleem Moulavi– Regional committee member India Fraternity Forum/Riyadh inaugurated the program.

Social Forum Central Committee president Janab Harris Mangaluru chaired the program and welcomed the guests. In his presidential speech he described and uncovered stories of freedom struggle and participants of Indian Muslims for the freedom fight. He urged everyone to fight against unconstitutional Citizenship Amendment Bill which passed by Centre government. He said that the We will continue its agitation against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the NRC and would not relent unless the Union government withdrew the Act.

Indian Social Forum Karnataka State Committee member Janab Mohammed Naveed delivered the Republic Day message. He said India was formed based on concept of ‘unity in diversity’ and it becomes every Indians’ responsibility to safeguard it. He expressed concern over CAA, NRC and NPR. Across India, students at other universities are against the Citizenship Amendment Act passed by Centre government.  The law offers amnesty to undocumented migrants from three neighboring Muslim-majority countries but only if they are non-Muslim. Critics say that by excluding Muslims, the law establishes a religious test for Indian citizenship, in violation of the secularism enshrined in India's constitution. The Indians, irrespective of caste, creed, religion and region have firmly resolved to oppose the draconian laws and fascist moves to debar the poor. Constitution granted to every person and citizen of India who are not ready to put them on a test of ideology of RSS and programs of BJP to implement the Brahmanist mind-set. He said that the police atrocities against CAA/NRC/NPR protesters had increased only in BJP-ruled States and  there were several loose ends in the police story about the incidents leading to the firing.

All delivered the message on the eve.

Basheer Karandur, General Secretary of Social Forum Central Committee, welcomed the gathering and Social Forum Riyadh Tamilnadu State Committee President Jabir presented the vote of thanks. Abdul Basheer was master of ceremony.

Dubai: In response to UAE health authorities encourage blood donation campaign Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta - U.A.E, conducted blood donation camps on April 22 at Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Khaldiya and on 23/04/2020 at Blood Transfusion and Research Centre, Sharjah.

The Abu Dhabi camp was inaugurated by Head of Department of Abu Dhabi Blood Bank, On this occasion she gave brief inputs of the benefits and features of blood donation, urged the participants to spread greater awareness about the importance of blood donation and congratulated the AKO members for their selfless social service and wished all the best for their future endeavours.

Abdul Rasheed, President of AKO presided over the function and Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta Vice President Mr. Mohammad Nasir appreciated the effort for organizing this camp and gathering youths to be a part of this noble cause as life is precious on this earth. "Each drop of blood counts much, so kindly take it as personal compassion to help unknown who requires blood with no relatives to help him/her.

In Abu Dhabi 41 and in Sharjah 49 donors participated in this event and donated their blood. It was nice to see cheerful smiling donors doing a great community work.
Blood bank staff and AKO Organizing team enthusiastically arranged the campaign which was witnessed by many members and leaders of various community organization of Karnataka.

Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta President briefed the participates about the ongoing social work of AKO in this current COVID-19 pandemic grim situation AKO is working on following fields: AKO Members have stepped up to support needy community during the Covid-19 pandemic have gone out of their way to comfort those struggling to deal with the challenging situation.

While thousands of people continue to #StayHome, many are in quarantine, there are those on visit visa and stuck here, others have lost jobs or face salary cuts. AKO in coordination with UAE Embassy and other social organization have been able to ensure basic necessities are fulfilled with food provisions and medical assistance to needy.

Providing counselling to bachelors and families those are on quarantine and isolation.

The organizers thanked everybody especially, UAE Health Authority, Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Khaldiya and Blood Transfusion and Research Centre, Sharjah, Management and staff as well as donors for their time and support for the good cause.
