DK Wakf panel chief Kanachur Monu receives threat calls from Ravi Poojary

Mangaluru, Sept 20: Well-known entrepreneur Kanachur Monu has lodged a complaint with Konaje police station, here, after he received a series of threat calls from a person claiming to be underworld operative Ravi Poojary.

Mr Monu, who is also the President of Dakshina Kannada District Wakf Advisory Committee, in his complaint stated that caller claiming to be Poojary sought ransom and issued a life threat stating that he would send his associates to him, if he failed to pay him.

Mr. Monu said that he had received nine threat calls from Thailand and Laos since Saturday.

Mangaluru City Police Commissioner T.R. Suresh said that the police were checking the veracity of the complaint.

Bantwal, Apr 29: Two people were injured after the truck laden with poultry feed rammed into the compound wall of after catching fire on Wednesday, at Marnabailu near Melkar.

Police said the injured were the driver and an assistant in the truck. They were admitted to a private hospital at Mangaluru.

However, it is not yet clear whether the truck transporting poultry feed from a company at Kandur caught fire after colliding against the electric pole or with the compound wall.

Maddur, Feb 7: Two daily wage workers were buried alive after a heap of mud collapsed on them near the Agriculture Department office on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway, in Maddur of Mandya district on Thursday night, police said on Friday.

Police said that the deceased, Kashinath (37), and Rajgandh (30), were working at a site of the ongoing Bengaluru-mysuru highway development project.
