DKMO conducts ‘Grand Family Winter Meet - 2018’ at Riyadh

Riyadh: The Dakshina Karnataka Muslim Okkoota (DKMO), Riyadh, conducted its annual ‘Grand Family Winter Meet -2018’ on Nov 22 at Al Awali Resort, Riyadh. It was well organized and huge gathering was the main factor of success.

DKMO is a unique organization set up in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh with an intention to support the family of deceased NRIs in case of sudden death of their breadwinners till now it has served 10 such cases with Rs 3 lakh each. Currently, DKMO has expanded with other objectives like financial loan for members, air tickets for stranded NRIs, general relief fund, micro loan to support self-employment in India and support for anti-dowry marriages & amp; campaigns.

DKMO has undertaken a new project in Dakshina Karnataka to create an awareness within common people on Government Schemes which will be benefitted to all community in DK.

At present, DKMO is focusing on Health schemes and appointed a representative in Mangaluru to conduct awareness program in all over Dakshina Karnataka.

The DKMO team spirit was very much appreciated and their efforts on supporting the NRI community was significantly touched the hearts of the Public. Awe – Inspiring reception welcomed all the crowd into this Mega event. The program had begun with stage function followed by many other fun filled indoor and outdoor activities.

The program started with recitation of holy quaran by Master Nooh Bin Salman Noor. DKMO Secretary Br Basheer Talapady welcomed all the Guests to the dais. Master of ceremony Br. Basheer Aramboor, a vibrant spokesman had compered the event with brief introduction of the program to the audience. DKMO President Br Abdul Azeez Bajpe presided over the function. Distinguished guest Br Lukman Pazhur Executive Director of Alif Internation School Riyadh & DKMO Event directors Br GK Shekabba and Br Fazlurrahman were shared the stage with chief guest.

The chief guest of the event Dr Abdul Salam Ommer, a young dynamic motivational speaker and current sensational figure in Riyadh had explained the importance of one’s involvement in community Service, balanced socio family life and how it will benefit the life longevity in humans.

Br Abdul Azeez Bajpe briefed the audience about the activities and future plans of DKMO through P P presentation And he verbally thanked and honored the DKMO Executive members Br.Abbas Uchil, Br Iliyas Yermal and Br.Nayaz Ahammad who had gone on Final exit to India recently.

A well-deserved youth icon, Founder General Secretary and Current President of DKMO Br.Abdul Azeez Bajpe was felicitated surprisingly with “DKMO Excellence Award” for his life time achievement on his dedication, Commitment and hard work for the betterment of the community. Later during his addressing speech, Br.Abdul Azeez Bajpe dedicated his award to all the DKMO members for their hard work and commitments.

Meanwhile the crowd was kept under sweet pressure with an enthralling raffle draw and spot quizzes.

Quiz Master Br.Nasrullah interestingly puzzled the children and adults with Islamic and general questions and the Winners were encouraged with dazzling gift hampers. At the end of the stage program Br.Fazlurrahman conveyed the vote of thanks to all guests and audiences.

As a whole, all the guests had enjoyed the sumptuous dinner with sweets, Ice creams, Welcome drinks and Fruits. As a special additive, many different food stalls were challenging their taste. Br.Mohammed Ali Jokatte and his team supervised and well managed the food arrangements.

On the other side, Ladies Volunteers had conducted numerous activities like quiz program, spot games and outdoor sports and they distributed the fascinating prizes to all the winners.

Br.Moideen Jokatte, Br.Sameer, Br.Nasir Jokatte and their team had energetically conducted the various outdoor games like tug of war, running race, and lemon race for children and Volleyball, Tug of war and Pot Breaking for adults.

DKMO Riyadh and Puttur Friends emerged to be the Winner and Runner of Tug of War & Kudla Friends and Puttur Friends emerged to be the Winner and runner of Volleyball Matches.

Mangaluru, May 22: An elderly cardiac patient from Dakshina Kannada, who was stranded in Saudi Arabia due to covid-19 lock-down, has finally reached his homeland thanks to the timely intervention by Humanity Forum Jubail and Indian Social Forum.

The elderly man hailing from Kadaba area of Dakshina Kannada was admitted to a hospital in Madinah. However, his condition continued to worsen due to lack of proper treatment. The efforts by his family members to bring him back home had not yielded results.

Meanwhile, one of the relatives of the patient, Ansari Suratkal, who happens to be a DKSC activist, brought the issue to the notice of the Karnataka unit of the Indian Social Forum in Dammam. ISF contacted Humanity Forum president Zakariya Jokatte, who helped the patient to speak directly union minister D V Sadananda Gowda in a video conference organised by coastaldigest.com.

Humanity Forum also persuaded the Indian Embassy to allow the stranded cardiac patient to fly back to India through Dammam-Bengaluru repatriation flight on May 20. 

However, it was not easy for the patient to travel from Madinah to Dammam International Airport due to lock-down and curfew. ISF not only obtained travel permission for him but also arranged vehicle. Jeddah and Riyadh units of ISF helped in obtaining permission letter in their respective places in spite of travel ban imposed by the police. Madinah unit of ISF arranged vehicle for transportation. Zakariya Jokatte bore the air ticket and other expenses of the patient.

Dubai: A blood donation drive was conducted by Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) at in Al Wasl Club Stadium here on Friday, 26th June 2020.

The drive started around 1:00 pm and continued till 4:00 pm as per schedule provided by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Blood Donation Centre and 60 people donated blood to support the Blood Bank. The drive was well organised by maintaining social distance in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As blood cannot be produced but only can be donated, this drive will help many patients in need of blood during emergencies. Donors were also feeling proud and happy at this moment thinking of saving someone’s life.

DHA Blood Donation Centre staff carried out the screening and testing done in very well manner keeping social distancing during this pandemic. Volunteers of KSCC were also helping the staff to keep people in safe distance and to make this drive a success.

KSCC Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi and other office bearers were present at the event venue. KSCC thanked the volunteers, Community Development of Authority (CDA), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Blood Donation Centre, Government of Dubai and Al Wasl Club Stadium for making the event successful.

Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) Chaiman Dr Sam Pitroda held video conference with senior IOC office bearers across Middle Eastern countries on 14th April 2020 to review the impact of COVID-19 pandemic among Indians residing in the region. Almost all speakers appreciated the efforts initiated and  implemented by  respective governments to contain spread of the deadly virus as well as measures taken towards welfare of the people affected by the lockdown. 

IOC Presidents, Mohammed Mansour - Bahrain, Abdullah Manjeri - Saudi Arabia, Dr J Ratan kunar - Oman and Girish kumar - Qatar, highlighted the quality treatment of patients and finacial aid provided by governments and other authorities. Bahrain IOC president Mansour , also  apprised about the 'Food for Needy' drive in Association with KHK Heroes foundation, initiated by HH Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and quality treatments as well as financial aid to local and expat residents.

Anura Mathai, IOC  Global Event Coordinator, spoke about certain problems of Indians in the UAE. IOC Middle East Convener, Mansoor Palloor, emphasised and requested IOC Chairman to urge Indian government to arrange immediate repatriation of indians stranded in Gulf countries. AICC Secretary, Himanshu Vyas, IOC Secretary Dr Arathi Krishna, Dr Arshi Malik (Abha), Mohiuddin Sirajudeen (Jeddah), Advocate Joseph Palathara (Dammam) Prasad Kodru, Jayati Maitra Ziyad Ahmed (Qatar) and Khursheed Alam (Gen Secretary- Bahrain) also apprised the participants about various issues relevant to the pandemic and suggested further initiatives to be undertaken. 

Dr Sam Pitroda briefed about sustained and consolidated efforts by all IOC members  during this unprecedented situation facing the world and assured that he would convey IOC  concerns to the government and try his best to ensure all possible help is made available to all needy Indians.
