DK’s Sudhir Hegde among 21 cops from Karnataka bag President's medal

Bengaluru, Aug 15: As many as 21 police officers from Karnataka have been conferred with the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and Police Medal for Meritorious Service by the President of India on the occasion of Independence Day.

Malini Krishnamoorthy, Additional Commissioner of Police (West), A B Rajendrakumar, DySP (Nelamangala sub-division) and Munihanumaiah, ASI (CID), Bengaluru, are recipients of the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, while the following officers will receive Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

P Rajendra Prasad, SP (Kodagu district); Basavaraj Jille, Commandant (6th Battallion, KSRP, Kalaburagi); Shankar K Marihal, ACP (Belagavi city sub-division); A R Balaramegowda, DySP (CID-forest cell); B K Umesh, DySP (Mulbagal sub-division, Kolar district); Sudhir M Hegde, DySP (ACB, Dakshina Kannada district); Basavaraj R Mugadum, DySP, (KLA, Bengaluru city); Mahesh Meghannavar, DySP (Shahabad sub-division); Maruti S Gullari, police inspector (Kasabapet police station, Hubballi); Gangadharasa, woman PSI (DG control room, Bengaluru); K A Srirama, special ARSI (9th Battallion KSRP), Bengaluru; Muniswamy Babu, ARSI, (DAR, Mysuru); Sharavan, ARSI, (DAR Mysuru); N S Iyengar Raju, head constable (state intelligence, Bengaluru); B Narayan Rao, special RHC-38 (1st battallion, KSRP, Bengaluru); Suresh S Abbigeri, special RHC (PTS, Munirabad); K Anantha Rao, CHC-232 (DSB, DPO Kalaburagi) and Abdulsattar A Mirji, CPC, (ISD, Dharwad).

Chikkamagaluru, June 6: The Chikkamagaluru district has become free from confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The last two of the 16 covid patients in the district were discharged today after they were treated and tested negative.

P 2765, a 28-year-old man and P 2766, a 38-year-old man were discharged, said Deputy Commissioner Dr Bagadi Gautham. Nine others were discharged from hospital yesterday.

Till May 22, Chikkamagaluru district had not recorded any positive and had remained a green zone till then.

However, with the influx of stranded people from Maharashtra and Delhi, the district had registered 16 covid positive cases.

 “As on today, there are no active covid-19 cases in the district. However, we should be attentive and take all the precautionary measurers,” the DC said.

The officer has appealed to the public to maintain social distancing in public places and wear masks.

Mangaluru, Apr 22: A staff working at the office of Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner was sent to quarantine as a precautionary measure here in the city on Wednesday.

The staff reportedly is a distant relative of a woman (native of Bantwal) who recently died due to killer Corona Virus in Wenlock Hospital, prompting the DC office to send the staff for 14-day quarantine.

According to the reports the staff had met the Doctor who was treating the woman and had inquired about her health condition on April 18.

However the staff did not meet the woman when she was in hospital as she was being treated in the ICU.
