Bengaluru, Mar 1: Dr S Sudhakar Shetty, whose premium wrist watches were stolen from his home last year, met Bengaluru Police Commissioner N S Megharikh on Monday and gave the statement that he never owned a Hublot watch similar to the one worn by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

watch copyThe doctor met Megharikh days after former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy suggested that the Hublot watch worn by Siddaramaiah might be Shetty's. Shetty clarified that he was in no way connected to the Hublot watch and the controversy involving Siddaramaiah and Kumaraswamy.

He told reporters after the meeting, “Three watches were stolen from my home in April 2015. I had lodged a complaint with the police in May 2015. I had Rolex and Shepherd's watches but never owned a Hublot. I don't know why Kumaraswamy dragged me into the controversy. His allegations are totally false and I clarified this before the police commissioner.”

He also denied having ever spoken to Kumaraswamy about the watch controversy. “Why should I speak to him about a watch that was stolen and a complaint that was lodged last year,” he asked.

Megharikh confirmed that Shetty recorded a statement on never owning a Hublot watch. He said the hunt for those who stole the watches was going on.

Neither anyone made a big hue and cry when Kumaraswamy son drove Hummer nor during his sweet heart exit.
I don't find anything wrong if someone wear genuine gifted watch.
CM caliber person will be gifted that way. No one expect that he should be gifted Titan.

Bengaluru, May 28: In a first of its kind initiative, the Karnataka government will soon launch 'Statewide Health Register', a project to maintain the health database of all its citizens, announced Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Wednesday.

The project will kick start from Chikkaballapura and Dakshina Kannada districts.

"With a vision to efficiently deliver quality healthcare to every citizen, Karnataka will soon have a Statewide Health Register. The pilot project will be implemented in Chikkaballapura & Dakshina Kannada dist shortly and completed in 3-4 months. @CMofKarnataka @PMOIndia @JPNadda," tweeted the Minister.

The government plans to get the data collected with the help of a team of Primary Health Centre (PHC) officials, revenue officials, Education Department staff and ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers.

"They will visit each household and collect health data of all the members of the family. This will not just help the government to provide better health care facilities, but also build an efficient resource allocation, management and better implementation of various citizen-centric schemes in the state," the minister added.

Sudhakar also said that the COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated the necessity of having a robust, real-time public health system.

"Very few countries in the world have taken such an initiative. It is a futuristic project which will include 50 per cent partnership of private hospitals. It would be a cumbersome process but if we do this and digitise it, the data could be used for multiple purposes. The data would help us prioritise healthcare based on geography, demography, and other targeted measures. It would also help medical professionals and scientists for innumerable studies," he said.

"We have consulted all specialists from 18 different departments, and taken their advice into account," said the minister.

Bengaluru, Feb 25: A smooth-talking ‘swamiji’ has come under police radar after a widow lodged a complaint stating he cheated her of over Rs 27 crore and three kgs of gold between 2016 and 2019.

The woman, Geetha of Ramamurthynagar, was staying with her three sons after her husband, a landlord, died in 2009. Her family owned several sites in Tavarekere and other parts of the city, apart from a farm near Bethamangala in Kolar district.

Geetha, who had got into property disputes with her relatives, said she was introduced to the accused, Nagaraj C of Bangarapet, who claimed to possess powers to ward off evil spirits, by one of her farm labourers. “I was assured that all my problems would be solved. He came to my house and claimed he had been sent by god and would find solutions to all my problems,” she stated.

Nagaraj allegedly pretended to be possessed by spirits and directed her to give him gold bars. Geetha ended up giving three kgs of gold in the process. Later, he began directing her to sell a few properties stating these were the root cause of her problems. “I sold many properties and pledged a few residential sites. He took Rs 22.5 crore that came from selling properties, apart from Rs 5 crore cash from my husband’s savings,” she stated.

She said Nagaraj took the money from her on the promise of buying alternative properties. “When I demanded he return all my money, he threatened to kill me and my kids using evil spirits,” she alleged.

Police have registered a case of cheating, criminal conspiracy, criminal intimidation under various IPC sections and Karnataka Prevention and Eradication of Inhuman Evil Practices and Black Magic Bill, 2017, against Nagaraj and others.
