Doctors perform Mangaluru’s first Minimal Invasive Thoracic Surgery

Mangaluru, Sept 9: A J Hospital & Research Centre is a major referral centre in Mangaluru and the surrounding districts. A J Hospital has performed complex Cardio Thoracic and Vascular surgeries with excellent results. A J Hospital has achieved many a milestones by conducting various rare surgeries and procedures.

A 48 years old woman was suffering from cough and fever since 6 months.  She was evaluated by Dr.Vishnu Sharma, Consultant Pulmonologist, who diagnosed that she had Left Lung cyst and was referred for surgical excision.

For the first time in Mangaluru, surgery was conducted using VATS (Video Assisted Thoracoscopy) by making 2 incisions of 10mm and 5mm and complete excision of the cyst was done.  Doctors at A J Hospital have completed this surgery successfully and the patient was discharged from hospital within two days after full recovery.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Sambhram Shetty, Consultant Cardio Thoracic and Vascular surgeon and was ably supported by Dr. Jayashankar Marla, Consultant Cardio Thoracic Surgeon, Dr. Gourav Shetty, Consultant Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon and Cardiac Anaesthetist Dr. Gururaj Thanthry.

Udupi, Feb 16: A man, who was trapped in 15-feet-deep hole following a landslide during borwell digging work at a remote area in the coastal district, was finally rescued after a prolonged effort today.

The man, identified as Rohit, suffered minor injuries in the incident.

The incident took place at Maravanthe village near Baindur in Udupi district.

Rohit was trapped when the land around borewell was being dug collapsed suddenly. It took around six hours for the rescue workers to rescue him.

Mangaluru, Apr 7: The virology lab set up in Wenlock Hospital here to test COVID-19 samples will start functioning from Tuesday, Karnataka District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said.

In his tweeter Mr Poojary said “After receiving approval from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and National Institute of Virology (NIV), the Virology Research and Diagnostic Laboratory set up at district Wenlock will start operating from April 7. The samples for COVID-19 will be tested in the district itself. I thank the state government for helping us set up the lab.”

The new Lab becomes the 10th government lab for testing COVID-19 samples in the state.

Ballari, Mar 6: Ballari Deputy Commissioner S S Nakul on Friday said that two persons who had shown symptoms of COVID-19 had been admitted to the district government hospital here.

Informing this to the presspersons here, Mr Nakul said that the cases were reported from Jindal village of K R Hospital taluk and another one from Hospet town in Ballari taluk.

He said a suspect returned from Dubai to Hospet last week and showed symptoms of COVID-19. Both suspected patients were admitted to special isolated ward in Ballari government hospital and their throat swab tests taken on Thursday had been sent to lab in Bangalore to check for COVID-19.
