Don’t air grievances in public, Karnataka CM advices Cong MLAs

Chairing the Congress legislature party meeting at the Vidhana Soudha on Monday, he said the party high command had finalised the list of office-bearers. KPCC president G Parameshwara will look into the list, if necessary. Congress MLAs should focus on preparations for the next elections, he is learnt to have said.

Many Congress MLAs and senior leaders are reportedly upset with the list. Some of them were even planning to express their ire at the legislature party meeting. Senior leader K H Muniyappa had reportedly expressed his dissatisfaction over what he termed the inadequate representation given to SC (left) or Madiga community. The Congress high command recently released a 171-member office-bearers’ list, as part of the preparations for the next Assembly elections. Sources in the party said the KPCC is likely to recommend revision of the list to the high command.

Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya told reporters the party had accommodated everybody. “Left, right, front, back...everybody has been accommodated. It is not proper to simply complain about the list,” he told reporters as they sought his comment.

Bengaluru, Mar 10: Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu on Tuesday paid a surprise visit to the Kempegowda International Airport and checked all measures taken by authorities and doctors to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Till date, 45 people have tested positive for the deadly coronavirus infection across India.

A resident of Bengaluru was tested positive for coronavirus on Monday.

Kochi, Mar 9: A three-year old child has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, officials said in Kochi on Monday.

The child and its parents who had reached the Cochin International Airport Limited at 6 AM on March 7 from Italy were subjected to thermal screening at the universal surveillance system established, officials said.

Detecting symptoms of coronavirus in the child, they were immediately referred to the isolation ward of the Kalamassery Medical College Hospital, they said. The samples of the child sent for examination at the NiV lab at Alappuzha have tested positive for Coronavirus, they said.

The samples of the parents have also been sent for lab test, the officials added.

Five fresh coronavirus cases, including three who evaded screening on return from Italy, were reported in Kerala, prompting the government on Sunday to sound a renewed alert and warn action against those hiding travel history to affected nations.

Udupi, Apr 5: Excise Department has formed a special patrol teams to check the illegal sale of liquor in the district during the lockdown period.

All liquor stores are closed till April 14 in view of the lockdown to contain Covid-19 spread. However, reports of liquor being sold illegally have come to the notice of the Excise Department.

In a stern warning, the department has stated that officials will verify the closing and opening stock at the liqour stores and if any discrepancy is found the violators will be penalised. The department has received over 20-30 calls regarding the illegal sales.
