Bengaluru, Oct 2: A young civil contractor was hacked to death by a group of men in the early hours of Sunday, minutes after he scolded them for smoking and creating a ruckus in front of his house in central Bengaluru
32-year-old Harish, a resident of ‘B’ Street, Ashoknagar, woke up around 2 am on hearing a loud noise as a Dasara procession was being taken out. He came out and saw four men smoking and chattering away right outside his home. He got angry at them and scolded them for smoking outside his home at the late hour.
He asked them to give up smoking, saying it was bad for their health. An argument ensued but the men eventually went away, a police officer said.
The smokers, however, returned after some time, carrying lethal weapons. On seeing Harish outside his home, they waylaid him, hacked him to death and ran away, the officer added.
Harish’s parents took him to Mallya Hospital where he died hours later. The officer said they had “certain leads” about the suspects and would track them down soon.
