Lucknow, Oct 30: Dr Kafeel Khan, who claims to have been a victim of government's vendetta in the infamous 2017 saga of 70 children perishing for want of Oxygen in BRD Hospital Gorakhpur, plans to move the Allahabad High Court over "massacre" of kids.

The 2017 deaths attracted national attention as the government made crude attempts to find scapegoats for 70 children's death after the hospital ran out of piped oxygen for want of payment to the contractor.

Children had been dying during previous years too.

Dr Kafeel Khan, initially emerged as a hero during the tragedy that shook the nation. But the authorities booked and suspended him for negligence and corruption. He claims the crisis was caused by the health authorities' greed for 10 per cent commission in acquiring the cylinders.

He addressed newspersons in Bhopal on Tuesday to announce plans to move the Allahabad High Court to get justice for the deceased.

"The massacre happened just for 10 per cent commission. It is not a tragedy. It is a massacre, a man-made," Dr Khan, said.

The contractor who supplied oxygen to the hospital had written 14 letters to various officials, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for payment, but to no avail. It was just for getting 10 per cent commission from the oxygen supplier that the massacre took place, Dr Kafeel Khan claimed.

"I am moving Allahabad High Court shortly to get justice for the deceased and seek punishment for the culprits. I have immense respect for judiciary and the Constitution," he said.

"Surprisingly even after the report of an inquiry conducted by a UP principal secretary was released recently, the responsibility for the deaths has not been fixed," he said.

"In the PS's report I have come out without a blemish. On August 13, 2017 Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath told me, 'I will see you'. This is the second time I am facing suspension for my comments on social media", said Dr Khan, who has been in jail for 9 months after the tragedy.

"I have been made the scapegoat. My wife has been tormented by law-enforcers when I was in jail. Eight more people have been victimized with me," he said. The real culprits are being shielded, Dr Khan alleged.

"My brother was shot and injured by four bullets. They mistook him for me," he alleged.

"Now my fight is to get justice for the 70 kids who perished. They were not members of one community. They were poor – Dalits, OBC and minorities," he added.

Bhopal, Mar 4: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister  Kamal Nath on Tuesday asserted that there was no threat to his government.

Nath's comments came when he was asked about reports of alleged 'poaching' attempts being made by the opposition BJP in the state.

“The legislators are telling me that they are being offered so much money. I am telling the MLAs to take it, if they are getting this free money,” Nath told reporters here on the sidelines of a programme.

Congress veteran Digvijaya Singh on Monday alleged that his party MLAs were being offered “huge money by BJP leaders” as part of the saffron party's “poaching” attempt to destablise the Kamal Nath government.

When Nath was asked about any threat to the stability of his government in Madhya Pradesh, he said, “There is nothing to worry about.”

Reacting to Nath's statement, state BJP spokesman Rajneesh Agrawal told PTI that his party has nothing to do with the allegations.

“In fact, these speculations and allegations are part of the internal bickering of among Congress leaders to get nominated for the Rajya Sabha polls,” he said.

After Digvijaya Singh's remarks on Monday, senior BJP leader and former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan accused the Congress veteran of making false statements to create sensationalism.

“Speaking lies to create sensationalism is Digvijaya's habit. Probably some of his (Digivijaya's) works were not done and he wants to create pressure on the CM to get them done,” Chouhan alleged.

New Delhi, Jul 13: The Land & Development Office, which comes under the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, has sent a notice to news agency PTI, demanding it to cough up more than Rs 84 crore as penalty. The notice dated July 7 says that the penalty has been imposed due to "breaches" at its office in Delhi.

The notice that sought Rs 84,48,23,281 argues that "the less will be pleased to regularise the breaches in the premises temporarily up to 14.07.2020 and withdraw the right of re-entry of the premises subject to the following conditions being fulfilled by you within 30 days from the date of issue of this letter."

The notice also stipulates that the news agency needs to give an undertaking on non-judicial stamp paper stating that it will pay the difference of "misuse/damage charges" if the land rates are revised with effect from 01.04.2016 by the government and will also remove the "breaches" by 14.07.2020 or get them regularised by paying charges.

The notice also warns that further action to execute the deed has to be subject to complete payment and putting the premise to use according to the masterplan.

The Land & Development Office so warned that an additional 10 per cent interest may need to be coughed out by PTI if it fails to furnish the concerned amount within the stipulated time period.

Additionally, if the news agency fails to comply with the terms within the said period, the concession will be withdrawn. In other words, they will have to pay the penalty up to the actual date of payment then and will also be subject to actions.

This stern notice for alleged violations by PTI comes closely on the heels of national broadcaster Prasar Bharati locking horns with PTI over its reportage that it called "anti national".

Prasar Bharti had recently sent a letter threatening to end its "relationship" with PTI after it carried an interview of Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong, where he blamed India for the India-China violent standoff that saw 20 Indian bravehearts getting martyred.
