Dr Nanda Kishore, SM Rasheed Haji among others conferred DK district Rajyotsava award

Mangaluru, Nov 1: Fifteen individuals and five organisations from Dakshina Kannada were conferred with the district level Kannada Rajyotsava award at a function in the city on Wednesday.

The awardees are Dr Nanda Kishore B (medicine), Y Krishna Salian Yelinje (agriculture), Keshav Kunder (journalism), Bengre Vijay Suvarna (Kabbadi - sports), Sridhar Holla Kottara (dance), Kotiparava Madavu (bootharadhane), Kulai Eshwar Poojary (folk medicine), K R Nath Konchady and K Devdas Bhandary Dombaddeguttu (social service), S M Rasheed Haji (education), Deviprasad Belthangady (small newspaper), Ashok Bhat N Ujire (yakshagana), Ramakrishna Kudroli (body building), B K Monappa Acharya Baidaguttu (sculpture) and Winnie Fernandes (cinema).

Yuvavahini from Mangaluru, Akhila Bharata Mundala Yuva Vedike from Mangaluru, Adarsh Friends Association from Chilimbi, Ansarul Muslimeen Association from Sullia and Torpedoes Sports Club from Haleyangadi are the five institutions that bagged the award for their social service.

The awards were conferred by district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai in the presence of Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Mangaluru Mayor Kavitha Sanil and MLC Ivan D’Souza among others.

Mangaluru, June 21: As many as 7 fresh cases of covid-19 were detected in coastal district of Dakshina Kannada today whereas neighbouring Udupi did not report any new case. 

The total confirmed covid cases in Dakshina Kannada today mounted to 425. Among them, 227 people have been already recovered and discharged. Today alone 26 were discharged. Currently there are 190 active cases in the district.

In Udupi there are only 102 cases are currently active among 1,063 detected covid-19 cases. So far 959 people have been discharged from hospital after fully recovering from the diseased. Today six patients were discharged.

Dakshina Kannada has so far witnessed death of 8 covid-19 patients. Among them 2 persons lost their lives due to non-covid reasons. Udupi has witnessed 2 covid related deaths so far.

Bengaluru, May 25: With the reporting of 93 more fresh cases of COVID-19, the total number of pandemic cases were surged to 2182 in Karnataka on Monday.

According to official sources, highest number of new cases of COVID-19 pandemic, were reported from Udupi (32), Kalaburagi (16), Yadagiri (15), Bengaluru Urban (08), Dakshina Kannada (04) in the last 24-hours in the state.

The fresh cases were also reported form Mandya, Belagavi, Ramanagara, Vijayapura, Kolara, Ballari and Dharwada district.

Bengaluru, Apr 16: Former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy had said that his son Nikhil's marriage ceremony will take place at bride Revati's residence in Bengaluru, however, the wedding preparations are also going on in his farmhouse at Ramnagar.

This comes amid the lockdown in the country due to COVID-19 outbreak. The farmhouse is located at Kethaganahally, near Bidadi in Ramnagar.

Kumaraswamy has said the marriage will be simple and only his family members will attend and no one from outside would be invited.

Earlier Kumaraswamy has said that his son's marriage will take place on April 17 at bride house.
