Dr A Subramanyeswara Rao replaces Sandeep Patil as top cop of Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Aug 1: A day after the body of Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) founder-owner VG Siddhartha was found here on the banks of a river, the government transferred Mangaluru Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil with immediate effect on August 1.

Patil is being replaced by Dr. Subramanyeshara Rao, who is currently serving as DIG, Intelligence Bengaluru.

Patil is now posted as DIG and Joint Commissioner of Police, Crimes, Bengaluru City.

Also, Hanumantharaya, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mangaluru City has been transferred as SP, Davanagere District. 

Following a massive search operation involving multiple agencies, the body of Siddhartha was found on the banks of Netravati River near Hoige Bazaar in Mangaluru on July 31.

The 58-year-old businessman is the son-in-law of former Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna.

Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and BJP leader Pralhad Joshi had on Wednesday said that an inquiry will be conducted into Siddhartha's death.

Mysuru, Feb 1: The local police have arrested a man stabbed his irresponsible wife after she apparently hurt him with her naughty TikTok videos in Periyapatna of Mysuru district.

According to police, Srinivas stabbed his wife Savitha for TikTok videos where the latter featured with a different man.

The couple was not in good terms and was staying separately since few years. Savitha was residing in Mysuru and she used to send TikTok videos posing with another man to Srinivas.

The couple had two children, who reside with Srinivas, who was upset with the videos and invited Savitha to the birthday party of one of their children at Periyapatna.

He attacked her with a knife soon after she reached the function venue, Police said.

Mangaluru, May 5: A day after lockdown was partially relaxed in Dakshina Kannada, a fresh covid-19 positive case was reported today from Boloor area of Mangaluru.

In its fresh bulletin, health and family welfare department today said that the throat swabs of a 51-year-old man from Boloor tested positive for the coronavirus.

Boloor is already declared as corona containment zone in the district after as this is the fourth coronavirus positive case reported from the area.

With this, the total number of coronavirus cases in Dakshina Kannada mounted to 25 including 19 residents of the district and six outsiders who have already left the district after getting treatment.

Hubli, Feb 17: A local court here on Monday sent three Kashmiri students who were arrested on charges of sedition to judicial custody till March 2.

They were arrested for allegedly raising pro-Pakistan slogans and posting a video of the same on social media, told police.

All three were taken into custody by the police on Sunday night and were produced before a local court on Monday.
