An official press release issued here on Friday said that since a large number of people were expected to participate in the samajotsava, there was a need to maintain peace and order in communally sensitive places such as Shiroor, Byndoor, Gangolli, Kodi, Kandlur, Kaup, Uchila, Padubidri, Bailoor and Malpe in the district.

Hence the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate R. Vishal had declared ‘Dry Day’ for one day and banned the sale of alcoholic beverages from all outlets and depots, the release added.
