Dubai: BCF Iftar Meet 2015 held; Help for poor students, disabled pledged

Dubai, Jun 27: Over 750 people, including women and children, took part in the ‘BCF Iftar Meet 2015’ conducted by the Bearys Cultural Forum, Dubai at the Iranian Club Auditorium, Dubai. A large number of Hindus and Christians also were present in the grand get-together.

After Iftar and Magrib prayers, an introductory programme of ‘BCF Scholarship Meet-2015’ was conducted. Dr B K Yusuf, Hon. President of BCF, presided over the programme. Dr Kaup Mohamed, Hon. Gen. Secretary, BCF, welcomed the dignitaries to the stage. Mr Ibrahim Dubal recited Qirath.

Mr. Latif Mulky, Chairman of Iftar Committee, thanked BCF managing committee and Iftar committee members for their relentless support to carry out this Iftar Meet 2015 successfully.

Mr. Usman Moolur, Chairman of BCF Scholarship Committee gave a brief introduction of BCF scholarship programme and appealed the gathering to be a part and parcel of this great social service by donating generously to the noble cause of providing education to the poor students.

Mr M.E. Moolur in his speech urged the people to extend their support to BCF for educational cause and also to support in providing free wheel chairs and power glasses to the needy people in Karnataka.

Dr. B K Yusuf gave a brief of the objectives and achievements of BCF. He thanked all patrons, supporters and committee member of BCF for their continued support. He said that BCF since last 14 years has been serving the poor people in Karnataka irrespective of caste, creed and religious differentiation. He said that BCF is involved in taking care of the downtrodden in the society, especially by providing scholarships to the poor students.

The main aim of BCF is to provide education to the poor children, provide medical assistance to the needy, conduct sports day and Iftar family get together and chammana and to honour the Bearys and other professionals of Karnataka.

Dr. Kaup stated that BCF has provided scholarship to more than 6000 poor students of the Karnataka and is also providing free wheel chairs to the disabled people and free power spectacles to the needy people in Karnataka. Dr Yusuf stated that BCF will be holding world Kannadiga convention for Arts and Culture in the end of 2015 where several dignitaries are expected to attend from all over the world which will include the chief minister of Karnataka.

The scholarship contribution drive was enthusiastically supported by the august gathering. Guest of honors, general audience and BCF committee members comprising both men and women generously pledged their support for free education, free wheel chairs and free power glasses.

The Chairman of the Iftar Meet 2015 Mr. Abdul Lathif Mulky and all his team members were applauded for their good task in conducting the Iftar Party 2015 successfully. The coordinated and dedicated support from all members of the Iftar committee and the BCF Committee members including BCF ladies wing played a major role in making the function a very successful one.

Ustad Samsudeen Haneefi Mardala performed Dua. Mr. Tanveer Razak proposed vote of thanks. A lot of giveaway packets and gifts were distributed. The event was sponsored by all the members of BCF, Chilly Willy, Tiffany, Landmark Infratech, Nafis group etc.

Prior to Iftar, Mr Tanveer, Mr Ibrahim Dubal and Mr Ibrahim Karnad conducted Qirat competition for children. Islamic quiz for both kids and adults were also conducted. Ustad Shamsudeen Haneefi Mardala delivered an informative lecture on the importance of Ramadan.

Bengaluru, Jun 23: Police have nabbed two foreign nationals who were drawing money from ATMs of various banks by using fake ATM cards after collecting details of the card including code while customers used to withdraw money.

Police on Tuesday said that the arrested were identified as Felix Kisiibo (25), Present address Kogilu, Yelahanka, Bengaluru Native address BUGOBERO Village, Khabutoola sub-county, Manafwa District, Uganda and Khairun Abbdulla (32), Present address Kogilu, Yelahanka, Bengaluru Native address House Uzini Zanzibar, Mkele urban, Tanzania.

The duo by inserting Skirmish machine into ATM used to collect details of ATM cardholders, balance and code and then by using fake ATM cards used to withdraw the money without the knowledge of customers.

Bengaluru, Jul 28: Several state Congress leaders, including its President D K Shivakumar, among others, were detained by police as they tried to march towards Raj Bhavan here against the alleged attempts by BJP to topple the party's government in Rajasthan.

Shivakumar, along with Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah, state Congress Working President Eshwar Khandre, Salim Ahmed among others were stopped by the police midway as they marched from KPCC office towards Raj Bhavan.

Congress leaders then staged a dharna at the place where they were stopped. Addressing the gathering, Shivakumar accused the BJP of trying to "murder" democracy by destabilizing and removing elected governments.

"We wanted to protest against it and submit a memorandum to the President through the Governor," but the Karnataka government by using police was not letting them proceed towards Raj Bhavan, he said. "Despite our being a peaceful protest, the police stopped us," he said.

Siddaramaiah, echoing similar views, said peaceful protests against injustice was the right of every citizen. Alleging that the BJP was attempting to destabilise and remove the elected government in Rajasthan as it did in Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, he said the Governor's office there (Rajasthan) was being 'misused'.

The Governor was working like an agent of the central government, he charged. He said, despite repeated appeals by the Rajasthan cabinet, the Governor there had not convened the assembly session, for the floor test to take place and for Congress to prove its majority. Police subsequently detained Shivakumar and some other Congress leaders and took them to a nearby police station.

They were later released. Meanwhile, as the Congress' protest amid Covid19 pandemic did not follow social distancing norms, Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar hit out at that party's leaders. In a tweet Sudhakar said, for Congress leaders getting publicity was more important than social concerns.

Udupi, May 17: A total of 1,460 migrant labourers left for Uttar Pradesh from Indrali Railway Station in Udupi in Shramik Special train on Sunday.

This is the first train to ferry migrant labourers from Udupi. As many as 236 from Karkala, 323 from Kundapura, 901 labourers from Brahmavar, Kaup and Udupi left for their native villages.

More than 2,000 labourers had gathered at the railway station and only 1,460 labourers received tickets to travel.

Those who did not receive tickets were disappointed and got into heated arguments with the officials.

The labourers were promised that they will receive tickets to another train, that would depart from Udupi before May 20. One bogie of the train was reserved for pregnant women, women and children.

As many as 1,712 from Jharkhand, 770 from Odisha, 977 from West Bengal, 1,600 from Bihar, 379 from Madhya Pradesh, 280 from Chattisgarh, 110 from Uttarkhand, 379 from Rajasthan had registered on Seva Sindhu portal.

Additional Deputy Commissioner B Sadashiva Prabhu said that there are plans to make arrangements to send migrant labourers from UP, Uttaranchal, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand.
