New Delhi, May 10: Ekta Kapoor is a maverick producer. She has helped in bringing the wave of content-based, small budget films to Bollywood with projects like Shor In The City, LSD, Lootera and Udta Punjab. However, she is averse to making films with big Bollywood stars and now she has revealed the reason behind it.

In a conversation with news agency, she said, “It is not about the access to the stars. We have not made films with Salman (Khan) or Shah Rukh (Khan) because at this point if I have to spend half a year in planning a film with a big star, it would require certain effort.”

She added, “We have got into an eclectic mix of films. Access doesn’t always mean...you could have picked up a phone and called them. It is not that we are making a big star Rs 100 crore proposal.”

Such strategy has paid her company, Balaji Motion Pictures, that tasted success with films like The Dirty Picture and Lipstick Under My Burkha.

Her idea about the competition is very clear. She says it’s all about winning and learning. She said, “I don’t like to live a delusional life, which is an easy thing. We all have dreams but we have to understand where the dream becomes delusional.”

She also has her eyes locked in on the regional film market. She said, “I feel we have a huge local market. I want to grow with regional content but that would be three years later. I have done two shows - one is a Bengali and other is a South Indian show. I had a huge wing that made lot of South Indian shows, not many people know we had a south show called Kudumbam. I am a firm believer that as the content gets local there will be more identification.”

Mumbai, May 17: TV actor Manmeet Grewal, who worked on shows like "Aadat Se Majboor" and "Kuldeepak", committed suicide after struggling with dwindling finances amid lockdown, family friend-producer Manjit Singh Rajput said.

Grewal, who was originally from Punjab, hanged himself on Friday night at his Kharghar residence here where he lived with his wife. He was 32.

Rajput, who had known Grewal for nearly seven years, said the actor was facing "financial crisis" and wasn't able to earn due to the lockdown.

"He was going through a major financial issue and he was also in depression. The added pressure of not being able to repay loans amid this (no work phase) got to him. His wife is completely shocked and devastated," Rajput told PTI.

The producer said last rites of the actor were performed on Saturday.

Grewal was working on projects like a webseries and some commercials, which were put on hold due to the nationwide lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Washington D.C., Mar 1: British actor Daniel Radcliffe in a recent interview said he is not rushing back to reprise the role of young wizard, Harry Potter, anytime soon.

The 30-year-old star who rose to fame with the first eight films in J.K. Rowling's famed franchise, told Variety that he doesn't like to say no to things but reprising the role in the 'Fantastic Beasts' prequels is not something he's "rushing to do".

"I feel like those films have moved on and they're doing just fine without us. I'm happy to keep it that way. I like what my life is now," Radcliffe told the outlet.

"I'm not saying that I'll never go back into any franchise, but I like the flexibility that I have with my career now. And I don't want to get into a situation where I'm signed up for one series for years in advance," cited Variety as Radcliffe as saying.

Radcliffe is currently gearing up for his upcoming mystery-thriller 'Escape from Pretoria,' a true-life prison drama, where he is set to essay the character Tim Jenkin.

The forthcoming flick is set to hit the theatres on March 6.
