Mangaluru, Jun 13: Coming down heavily on Belthangady MLA K Vasantha Bangera for calling him a ‘fake victim’ during the legislative assembly session, Endo Virodhi Horata Samiti president K Shridhar Gowda has threatened to launch a ‘legal’ and ‘religious’ battle against the Congress veteran.VBvasanthB2

Addressing media persons in the city on Tuesday, Mr Gowda said that he was officially declared an endosulfan victim by various expert government doctors after repeated tests. “I will send a legal notice to the MLA and also will complain to the deity of Kasaragod’s Sri Kanathur temple against him,” he said.

“When the endosulfan victims of Dakshina Kannada launched an indefinite hunger strike at Kokkada recently, Mr Bangera had visited the spot and promised the agitators to bring their demands to the notice of chief minister. However, later he turned up against the victims,” he said accusing the MLA of playing ‘double game.’

Mr Gowda further said that being the local MLA it was responsibility of Mr Bangera to get relief for the victims. However, when the victims themselves fought legally and are on the verge of getting relief Mr Bangera has become a hurdle in their path, he lamented.

“The MLA has spoken about fake victims taking advantage of the situation. If that is true, then it is again his responsibility to look into it and prevent it from happening,” he said adding that he also doubts whether Mr Bangera could have helped someone get fake victim certificates.

Mr Gowda also criticized Food and Civil Supplies Minister U T Khader for failing to fulfil the promises when he was the Health Minister of the state. “Mr Khader is ashamed that incumbent Health and Family Welfare Minister K R Ramesh Kumar has tried to do in a small time what the former had failed to do and expressed his helplessness in the assembly,” he said.

Need tough punishment.

Instead of helping with lesser price, troubling the people. These are cruels.

Jun 4: Belur Mutt, the global headquarters of Ramakrishna Mutt and Ramakrishna Mission, has decided to throw open its gates to the devotees from June 15 after putting in place all safety measures required to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The gates of the sprawling premises of the mutt set up by Swami Vivekananada at Belur near here was closed since the lockdown was announced in March by the Centre. The Mutt has devotees from across the globe.

The secretary of Belur Mutt Ramakrishna Mutt and Ramakrishna Mission, Swami Suvirananda said in a statement that as the easing down of lockdown measures announced by the Centre and the state did not indicate the threat caused by COVID-19 pandemic is over, the authorities thought it prudent to put in place all the measures required before opening the gates of the Mutt and all RKM centres in the country for the scores of devotees.

The statement was issued on June 1, the day religious places of worship were thrown open by the West Bengal government.

"We had to think about both aspects - the issue of public health and also the wish of our devotees for having a darshan of the shrines of Swami Vivekananda, Sri Sarada Maa and Ramamrishna Paramahansa. But we believe spirituality and sceintific temparament must go hand in hand," he told reporters on Thursday.

"Therefore it is imperative for us to consult experts and put in place adequate arrangement and infrastructure" before opening the (Belur Mutt) gates," he said.

The senior monk said the timing of the opening and closure of the shrine and all other details conforming the health protocol and guidelines will be announced before opening date.

The Mutt complex had become totally out of bound for visitors from March 24 when the lockdown was clamped. There was restricted entry to it since May 16.
