Prakash Jha lodges complaint against imposter promoting Satyagraha

August 17, 2013

Prakash_JhaPatna, Aug 17: Film-maker Prakash Jha has lodged complaints with police in Kolkata and Patna against a person who, impersonating as his son, had collected money by falsely promising to have organised an event on August 14 for promotion of his upcoming film 'Satyagraha' starring Amitabh Bachchan.

The imposter had announced to organise the event in a five-star hotel at Kolkata by falsely claiming that it would be attended by Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Manoj Bajpayee, Kareena Kapoor and Jha himself.

Sources in the Prakash Jha Production House said as per their information the imposter had also roped in sponsors for the event in Kolkata.

Jha said over phone that he did not have any son and the person was falsely claiming so to cheat people.

"I have asked my officials to lodge police complaints in Kolkata as well in Patna," the maker of the film 'Satyagrah' said.

The sources in Jha Production House said the complaints had been lodged with Bhawanipur police station in Kolkata and with Shri Krishnapuri police station in Patna.

The complaint lodged at Bhawanipur police station in Kolkata on August 14 said that a person identified as Presenjit Jha fraudlently claiming to be Prakash Jha's son had announced the event on August 14.

"But, due to timely intervention the fraud was detected and everybody warned of the cheating and the so-called event was cancelled on August 14," the sources said.

Sources in the Jha Production House in Mumbai said that the film-maker has only one daughter and no son.

They said the impostor had even claimed that Jha was planning to advance the dates of the release owing to his mothers ill health.

But, the fact is that the directors mother actually passed away two decades ago, the sources said adding the impersonator had also used letterheads in the name of Jhas TV channel "Maurya TV" to generate funds and advertisement.

A miffed Prakash Jha said "in fact the person has also hired a PR agency and has been picking up funds in my name. It is a case of harming my reputation."

California, Jun 30: Online video-sharing platform YouTube on Monday banned several prominent channels, including those belonging to Stefan Molyneux and Richard Spencer.

The company banned six channels for repeatedly violating YouTube's policies.

According to The Verge, other channels banned include American Renaissance (with its associated channel AmRen Podcasts) and the channel for Spencer's National Policy Institute.

YouTube began taking stern measures on supremacist channels in June 2019.

"We have strict policies prohibiting hate speech on YouTube, and terminate any channel that repeatedly or egregiously violates those policies," the Verge quoted a YouTube spokesperson as saying.

"After updating our guidelines to better address supremacist content, we saw a 5x spike in video removals and have terminated over 25,000 channels for violating our hate speech policies," the spokesperson added.

Washington, Mar 11: Pop star Selena Gomez made some revelations about her personal life in a recent interview.

While explaining the lyrics of her song "Rare" on the 'Genius' YouTube channel, the 27-year-old said that there are times when she feels that she will ever be able to find a suitable partner for herself, reported Fox News.

"Some days when I wake up and I am annoyed and I am like, 'I am going to be alone forever.' But after that 15 minutes go away, I say to myself, 'I know that there is someone for everybody," the singer told in the seven-and-a-half minute long video.

However, she remains optimistic as she is still young and "this isn't the end all be all".

Elaborating upon the chorus of her song, Gomez opened up and said, "self-esteem and confidence is a constant struggle".

"It's getting better with time and age, but it will always be something that I'm working on," she added while explaining the lyrics further.

"So what I think is so important about this chorus is that it's acknowledging, 'Hey, I don't have it all. I'm not saying I'm perfect, but I do know that I'm special,' and I think that is a humble approach of saying, 'Why don't you see that I am different?'" the singer added as reported by Fox News.

Touching upon her experiences from past relationships, she commented: "In certain relationships, I've heard and I've experienced and whatnot, I think men and women do it -- especially teenagers and young people in love -- is there's this satisfaction out of hurting someone because you know that they care. Purposefully putting someone down because they want to keep them at a level. I've had someone actually say that to me before".
