Mumbai, Nov 8: Rohit has delivered hits like `Golmaal` series, `Singham` and the most recent being Shah Rukh Khan starrer `Chennai Express`. The film was screened on television last month and garnered a good response.

"It is not a habit to make hit films, it just happens. You cannot plan out such things (hits and flops). The reaction to a film is upto the audience. I am thankful to audience for their love and support," Rohit said.

With a spate of successful films, Rohit is termed as a `Rs 100 crore director`, but he doesn`t seem to be overwhelmed by such tags.

"Every Friday which comes is a new test. You are remembered for your last Friday. I can`t get carried away and take the audience for granted. I will have to work hard for my next project. You should not take it (success) to your head," he said.

The first instalment of action drama `Singham` saw Ajay Devgn playing a police officer and South actress Kajal Agarwal in the lead. Singham` was the Hindi remake of a Tamil film by the same name. Now, the makers are planning its franchise, currently titled `Singham 2`.

"We are still working on it, we are still scripting. It is one of the big and lovable brands. You don`t want to take the audience for granted. We are working on every minute detail," he said.

"In the last two years after `Singham`, we have seen a lot of similar stuff on screen from flying cars and flying people etc. We have to do something new, so people follow that for the coming two years... Hence we are working to make a good entertaining film," Rohit said.

Besides the hero, the leading lady of the film has been in news. Those whose names have cropped up include Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shraddha Kapoor, but Rohit insists nothing is confirmed yet.

"Even I am not aware of it (leading lady). I read about the leading lady every day in newspapers. We are not sure if we would go with an established actress or a newcomer for the film," he said.

Meanwhile, the buzz is that Rohit would remake southern director Nalan Kumarasamy`s `Soodhu Kavvum` in Hindi.

"We have bought the rights but there is still time. We will work on it later on," he added.

The director is also planning a remake of `Angoor`, with superstar Shah Rukh Khan expected to play the lead (the role essayed by Sanjeev Kumar in the original movie).

The project is in the pipeline, Rohit added.

Kolhapur, Feb 21: Voicing against Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), renowned lyrics and thinker Javed Akhtar has said that the act was an assault to secularism and integrity of India and with the ongoing protests, the nation had reached a threshold for an another struggle.

Speaking here on Thursday night at an event organised on the 5th death anniversary of CPI senior leader and progressive leader Com Govind Pansare, Mr Akhtar said the newly amended citizenship act was a plot to split the country.

Mr Javed said that communalism has a deep root in India and it spread after the formation of Hindu Mahasabha and Muslim League in British India. "Muslim league got Pakistan but Hindu Mahasabha is still unsatisfied," he alleged and added that BJP was now 'working as a branch of RSS' and trying to 'split the country' through NRC.

Chennai, Mar 12: Superstar Rajinikanth on Thursday clarified that he never aspired to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and said his plans for politics include different heads for his prospective party and a possible government headed by it.

In his first official press conference since December 31, 2017, when he announced to take the political plunge, the veteran star also said he planned to appoint as CM, an educated youth who was compassionate and had self-respect.

With a two-leadership system for party and the government, the former would act as an "opposition" to highlight issues and would not even hesitate to "remove", apparently the head of the government, if it fails to perform, he said.

His prospective party would focus on including a substantial amount of youngsters in the age group of below 45 years while the rest would comprise retired judges and IAS and IPS officials among others.

"I myself would reach out to them and invite them," to join him, the 69-year-old actor said.

Contrary to expectations, he however, did not make a concrete statement on floating his party but called for an "uprising" by youth, after which he would make his formal political entry.

Jun 8: The Shiv Sena has sought to take a different stand on Bollywood actor Sonu Sood’s help in ferrying migrants back home in the midst of the nationwide lockdown induced by the coronavirus pandemic. On Sunday evening, the actor met Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray at his residence ‘Matoshree’. The CM’s son and Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray and MLA Aslam Shaikh were also present during the meeting.

Sonu Sood’s visit to the Shiv Sena supremo’s residence came after Sanjay Raut, one of the most vocal leaders of the party, criticised the actor and sought to draw a BJP link to his help to migrants in order to show the ruling dispensation in poor light.

“Sood is an actor whose profession is to deliver dialogues scripted by someone else and make a living out of it. There are many people like Sood who would promote any political party if paid well,” Raut wrote in Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamna.

Referring to the actor’s help to migrants, Raut wondered if the sudden generosity of “Mahatma” Sood in Mumbai was at BJP’s behest and said that he would “soon meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and become the celebrity manager of Mumbai.”

As Raut’s remarks fuelled a controversy in political circles, Aaditya Thackeray tweeted in praise of Sood in an apparent attempt to distance the party and its leadership from the leader’s remarks.

“This evening Sonu Sood met up with Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray ji along with Minister Aslam Shaikh ji and me. Better Together, Stronger Together to assist as many people through as many people. Good to have met a good soul to work for the people together.”

“The CM was glad to meet Sonu Sood and discussed the work everyone is doing for the people during covid relief. Misunderstandings don’t exist but what does is a commitment to help people,” Aaditya tweeted.

Sonu Sood too sought to downplay Raut’s remarks and expressed gratitude to all political parties for having supported him. “They (Shiv Sena) are also supporting it and it’s not about any particular party. We have to support all the people who are suffering. Every party from Kashmir to Kanya Kumari has supported me,” the actor told reporters after his meeting with the Chief Minister.

Sonu Sood has earned immense praise for providing help to stranded migrant workers during the Covid-19 lockdown. He has launched a helpline for migrants and has helped hundreds of migrants return to their native places in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Karnataka.
