Jeddah, Apr 25: Indian community employed in the Gulf countries have a larger and decisive role to play in shaping the future of India, said A Saeed, National President of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI).

He was speaking during an impressive reception given to the national leaders of SDPI on their short visit to the Kingdom. In the presence of a packed audience, he also dedicated the social welfare organization, Indian Social Forum (ISF) to the service of the entire Indian expatriate community. Foreign remittance of the overseas Indian community to India is the backbone of our economy and their contribution is invaluable in achieving the present development of the country. He also added that the expatriates should be aware of the situation of our beloved nation and should have their say in the political process as it is very relevant because maintaining apolitical stand is now misunderstood as good quality of a responsible citizen. He further added that in India Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has a “Pravasi Forum” in India for the welfare of the returning NRIs.

Moulana Uthman Beig, member of national working committee of SDPI, said that the political ideology of the party has been remarkably attracting the Indian community and the election of SDPI representatives to local bodies and municipal corporationsof many Indian states is a good example of the recognition and acceptance. For the upcoming Lok Sabha election, the party has set its manifesto raising the basic issues of the common people of the country, free from fear and free from starvation.

Moideen Kutty Faizy, the national secretariat member of SDPI, urged the Indians to cast their votes understanding the present situation of the minority and backward communities, who were not able to enjoy the benefits of freedom and democracy. These sidelined communities should continue their agitation to achieve their rights as guaranteed in the constitution. Blame game and Modi scare are used to mobilize the decisive minority votes and the national and regional parties do not have any policy or programme to improve the lots of the poor. Here is the relevance of SDPI in this loksabha election, Faizy added.

Dr. Aleek Khan Falaky, S.R. Shareef, Adv. Muneer, Dr. CK Abdullah felicitated on the occasion and the programme was also attended by leaders of various socio-cultural organisations of Jeddah and regional committee members of ISF of different regions of Saudi Arabia.

Mohammed Ashraf Morayur (Pr, Indian Social Forum adhoc committee) presided and Mohammed Iqbal (Secy. Indian Social Forum adhoc committee) welcomed the guests and the gathering which included hundreds of families as well. Reception began with the recitation from noble Quraan by Master HudhaifyFarooqui and Mohammed Sajid (ad-hoc committee, member) conveyed the vote of thanks and Abdul Azeez and Hasan and Abdul Ghani anchored the function in different Indian vernaculars.
