Jamakhandi (Bagalkot district), Aug 27: A farmer was killed in a crocodile attack in River Krishna waters near Halingali village of the taluk on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Dharmanna Jinnappa Khanagonda (45).
He had ventured into the river to change the dysfunctional footvalve of a irrigation pump. The crocodile attacked him and dragged him into the river. The body of the farmer was yet to be traced.
He is survived by wife and two daughters.
Udupi, Jul 21: Udupi Court complex has been sealed down for two days for sanitisation after a judge tested positive for Covid-19, a source said on Tuesday.
The Covid cases in Udupi district which had reduced recently are once again seeing a spurt. On Monday, as many as 98 have tested positive taking the total cases in the district to 2,321.
Bagalkot, April 4: A COVID-19 positive patient passed away in Karnataka's Bagalkot on Friday, taking the total number of deaths in the state to four, informed the Deputy Commissioner of Bagalkot.
The total number of coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 2650 including 184 people who have been discharged or cured or migrated, and 68 deaths, as per the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Bengaluru, Apr 13: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President and former Minister D K Shivakumar has demanded resignation of Minister In-Charge of COVID-19 for his alleged irresponsible comment, despite holding a responsible post.
Mr Shivakumar's comments came after Dr Sudhakar on Sunday shared a picture of him and his children in a swimming pool, on Twitter with a caption, ''After a long time joined my children for swimming hope maintaining social distance here as well…hahaha.''
However, Dr Sudhakar deleted the tweet from his account, soon after he was criticised for sharing such a picture, when the country is facing a health crisis.
