Jamakhandi (Bagalkot district), Aug 27: A farmer was killed in a crocodile attack in River Krishna waters near Halingali village of the taluk on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Dharmanna Jinnappa Khanagonda (45).
He had ventured into the river to change the dysfunctional footvalve of a irrigation pump. The crocodile attacked him and dragged him into the river. The body of the farmer was yet to be traced.
He is survived by wife and two daughters.
Mangaluru, July 28: A screenshot of a death threat message against IAS officer Sindhu B Rupesh, the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada, is now going viral on social media.
The threat comes in the wake of the Deputy Commissioner’s warning against attack on cattle traders by anti-social elements ahead of Eid al-Adha.
It is learnt that a discussion was held about DC’s warning in a pro-Hindutva WhatsApp group. The death threat was issued in the same group in Tulu language.
A police officer said that if the deputy commissioner doesn’t lodge a complaint, the police will file a suo motu case in this regard.

Ballari, Jan 6: Two members of a family were killed in a cylinder explosion at their home in Sanjeevarayana Kote, here on Monday morning, police said.
The deceased were identified as Parvathi and her daughter Huliyamma.
The incident took place when the two were in the kitchen. Fire tenders were rushed to the rescue.
Bengaluru, Feb 26: Karnataka Minister CT Ravi on Wednesday said that time is ripe to bring in Uniform Civil Code in the country as there was a demand for "equality".
"Everyone talks about equality. Those who desired inequality in the past are now seeking equality. The time is ripe to bring Uniform Civil Code," he said.
The Minister said that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has been a part of the party's agenda since the time when BJP was formed in 1980.
"We spoke about article 370, we have done it, on Ayodhya issue, the Supreme Court has given its verdict. As the time comes we will do it," he said.
