Farmers agitate against acquisition of 19 acres fertile land for Sewage Treatment Plant

Belagavi, Jul 29: Hundreds of farmers under the banner of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) and Hasiru Sene (Green Brigade) staged protest in front of Deputy Commissioner's office today protesting against District Administration acquiring about 19 acres of fertile land for setting up Sewage Treatment Plant (SAP) near Halaga in the outskirts of the city.

Agitating Farmers questioned why should the District administration acquire fertile land when plenty of government land is available in the City. Hundreds of families are cultivating and depending on it for their livelyhood and there is no other sources of income. Hence the government should stop the work and opt other land.

The agitators also demanded, among other things, fixing the MSP for Sugar Cane at at Rs 3,500 rupees per ton, immediate implementation of Kalasa-Banduri-Mahadhai project and implementation of Dr Swaminathan Committee report to ensure fair price for Agriculture produce. If government fails to fulfill our demands we will take strong protest against state government, farmers leaders said.

Bengaluru, Apr 16: Special Investigating Team (SIT), headed by Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Sandeep Patil, subjected former underworld don turned social activist Muthappa Rai in connection with gangster and underworld don Ravi Poojary's criminal cases.

Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) said that the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Venugopal and police inspector Bulletin have questioned Rai in his house for more than two hours about Ravi Poojary case.

Muthappa Rai was allegedly one of the accused in builder Subbaraju murder case. They both were allegedly close in the initial days and they were like a team, said a senior officer. So Rai was questioned about their connection. Rai, who reformed himself many years ago, is into business and social service at present.

Kanhangad, May 10: Kasaragod district has become free from COVID-19 on Sunday.

The last remaining patient has been tested negative for coronavirus, said district medical officer Dr. A. V. Ramdas.

He added that the officials are proud to have been able to cure all 178 COVID-19 patients in the district.

Mangaluru, Feb 6: A 40-day old child with cardiac condition was shifted to Bengaluru’s Jayadev Hospital from Father Muller Hospital in Mangaluru through a green corridor traffic.

Hospital sources said the ambulance carrying the 40-day old patient was provided Green Corridor by police department throughout the way.

Saiful Azhman, who is just 40-days old has been diagnosed with heart-related ailment. Doctors at FMMC hospital provided basic treatment to Saiful and advised that he be taken to Jayadeva hospital for advanced treatment.
