FIR against Sajjad Nomani an attempt of intimidation: PFI

Media Release
March 10, 2018

Popular Front Chairman E Abubacker in a statement took strong exception to the FIR lodged by The Hazratganj police against All India Muslim Personal Law Board spokesperson Maulana Sajjad Nomani alleging sedition.

He rubbished the accusations made by UP Shia Waqf Board Chairman, Waseem Rizvi against Maulana.

Maulana Nomani is known for his integrity and commitment to the constitutional values, and has never spoken against any religion or community.

At the same time, he has been a vocal critic of Sangh Pariwar’s divisive politics. Criticizing RSS and its ideology of hatred is not criticizing a community. It seems that Mr. Rizvi working as a tool of RSS and taking his cue from Sangh Pariwar in their plan to intimidate Muslim leaders criticizing RSS into silence.

This FIR is detrimental to the freedom of expression guaranteed by the constitution. We express our solidarity with Maulana Nomani.  RSS has to stop using individuals like Rizvi to defame Muslim leaders, stated the release issued by PFI chief.

This Rizvi is agent of Sangh parivar and gets paid on statement wise basis. The more anti muslim statements he gives more he gets paid. He is an enemy of all muslims and his statements should not be considered by any Law agency. He is trying to defame Muslims on the behest of Sangh parivar. His illegal and illogic statemetns will give rise to trouble all over India. hence he should be arrested immediately.

Bhopal, Mar 12: The Madhya Pradesh Congress on Thursday took a dig at Jyotiraditya Scindia, who broke ranks with the party and joined BJP on Wednesday, by pointing out that neither Prime Minister Narendra Modi nor Amit Shah had not even put out as much a tweet to welcome him in the party, and construed it as "humiliation" for the "maharaja".

"Not even a tweet by Narendra Modi-ji or Amit Shah-ji to welcome Scindia-ji! Modi-ji, Shah-ji, at least do not do it so soon. It has not even been 24 hours yet and you guys have already started humiliating him...!" Madya Pradesh Congress tweeted in Hindi.

Taking a jibe at Mr Scindia, a member of the erstwhile royal family of Gwalior who ended his 18-year-long association with the Congress party on a bitter note, the state Congress said: "He is a maharaja, the one whose history is often mentioned by Shivraj-ji (former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan)."

On Wednesday, Jyotiraditya  Scindia joined BJP in New Delhi in the presence of party president JP Nadda. He had resigned from Congress a day earlier after meeting Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Mr Scindia will file his nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections on March 13. He is expected to go to Bhopal today.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Ayodhya to lay the foundation of the Ram temple. He participated in the bhoomi poojan rituals at the temple site and offered prayers. He will shortly lay the foundation of the temple with a sliver brick.

From Varanasi to Tamil Nadu, many devotees have sent gifts for the ceremony, like silver bricks and coins.

Special prayers were started on Monday and will culminate with the PM laying the foundation stone for the temple. The city has been decorated with paintings depicting scenes from the Ramayana. The Uttar Pradesh government has also made elaborate security arrangement for the event.

Apart from the state police, the NSG commandos have also been kept on stand-by. The invitations for the ceremony have been kept limited due to the coronavirus pandemic. Veteran BJP leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi will witness the event from New Delhi via video-conferencing.
