Fog delays 20 flights in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Jan 7: Scores of passengers were left stranded and many others had to miss their connecting flights, while some even missed their business meetings and appointments as the airport authority in Bengaluru rescheduled at least 20 flights due fog on the runway.

Following the bad weather conditions, a couple of airlines such as Vistara, SpiceJet, Jet Airways and IndiGo have rolled out travel advisories urging passengers to check their flight status before heading for the aerodrome.

This had witnessed disruption in aerodrome services on Sunday after at least 50 flights were rescheduled between 6 am and 9 am which were delayed owing to bad weather.

Three flights, including a Singapore-Bengaluru IndiGo flight and Goa-Bengaluru Air India flight, were forced to divert to Chennai due to fog at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in the city. 
On a related note, a thick blanket of fog also engulfed the national capital causing delay in all flights to and from the Delhi airport. 

The minimum and maximum temperatures is the national capital is hovering at 8 Degree Celsius and 19 Degree Celsius, while humidity in the region throughout the day will oscillate between 95 per cent to 97 per cent, said India Meteorological Department.

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 29: Twenty more people were

detected with coronavirus in Kerala on Saturday, taking the total number of those undergoing treatment for the deadly infection to 181, Health Minister K K Shailaja said.

While Kannur reported eight cases, Kasaragod 7, Thiruvananthapuram, Ernkulam, Thrissur, Palakad and Malappuram reported one case each, Shailaja said in a statement here.

Of the 20 people, 18 had come from abroad and two others had been infected through contact.

The man found positive here was in the isolation ICU of the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College hospital, while one positive case from Ernakulam was a health worker.

The samples of four persons who were under treatment at Pathnamthitta were found negative.

At least, 1,41,211 people are under observation across the state, the Minister addd.

Mangaluru, May 2:  Fishermen in the coastal districts fear that the fishing season ending on May 31 every year might be rescheduled early this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement department of fisheries on sturday said fishing season is closed for 61 days every year before the arrival of the monsoon.

As per the data with the Fisheries Department, this year the number of fishes caught has set a record.

Mangaluru, Apr 15: Santhosh Kumar Padil, ASI attached to Mangaluru East (Kadri) Police Station, has helped two children unite with their parents in Kerala.

The children had come to Mangaluru during the holidays and could not return to their native place following the closure of border and lockdown. The two children, hailing from Manjeshwara in Kasargod district, were in the house of their relatives in Mangaladevi and were eager to join their parents.

The relatives of the children had brought the issue to the notice of the ASI and sought his help in the matter.
