Belagavi, Apr 19: Sparking a row, a Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Sanjay Patil said that the upcoming Karnataka assembly election is "not about roads and drinking water but about Hindu-Muslim incidents".

Sanjay Patil represents the Belagavi Rural constituency in north Karnataka, which is near the state’s border with Maharashtra.

Addressing a gathering in Karnataka's Belagavi, Patil said, "This election is not about roads, water or other issues. This election is about Hindus vs Muslims, Ram Mandir vs Babri Masjid. A video of  his provocative comments is in wide circulation on social media.

He continued his speech and said, "I am Sanjay Patil, I am Hindu, this is a Hindu Rashtra (nation) and we intend to build Ram temple."

He further added, "Whereas Lakshmi Hebbalikar (Congress candidate) wants to build Babri Masjid. Whoever wants Babri Masjid, Tippu Jayanthi they should vote Congress. And who wants Shivaji Maharaj and Ram Mandir should vote for BJP."

This is not the first time one of his videos has caused a flutter. In another clip in 2017, Sanjay Patil is heard shouting and threatening a police officer who was trying to maintain order during a motorcycle rally.

Karnataka will go to polls on May 12 to elect its representatives for the 225-member assembly. The results will be out on May 15.

Your agenda in all election is " We will build Ram Mandir" if we elected to assembly. Now Central is with BJP hand, UP is with BJP hand then what is the issue? Why again and again saying we will build Ram Mandir - Ram Mandir every now and then.  Road is free and why dont you take steps to build the temple and finish the issue?

Dear Non Muslim brothers and sisters, believe it or not - These so called politicians will never build Ram Mandir or whatsoever. This is the main Muddah for their election campain. Actually we the voters are fool and fighting each other (Hindu & Muslim), killing , looting innocents etc etc. - Finally who will benefit?  These politicians and who is the looser - WE

Dear All - Please think about the development of our state, country and cast your valuable vote to the right candidate who may contribute to the development of our state/country.  In this era Mandir-Masjid is not the issue - Issue is development, education, job, food etc etc.

The problem is BALATKARI JANWAR PATRY (BJP), Modi and Amit shah style of running the government on Hitler style has already filled the gandu rashtra people with poison in their brains to send Muslims out of India.  This is the real problem.  Gandus want their gandu rashtra at any cost now. Arab Muslims ruled India for 900 years and enriched the country with coffee,  silk etc. Then British came and looted the country.  Then these BJP and RSS are gifted with the divide and rule formula from British.  They are now just following the same old formula to eat up whatever is left in the country.  All this making hindu rashtra etc is a drama.

Comparing to Japan and other countries India is quite behind, because their aim is development, whereas our aim is Mandir/Masjid and religion.  If India continues the same theory, India will never develop.  These politicians are taking India on wrong direction.

Tippu is dead , shivaji also is dead. Why not worry about  poor people like us who are still alive?  We have enough masjid to pray , Allah will accept our prayers from any masjid, plz dont worry about that. Kindly finish the ram mandir as soon as possible. After all this done, kindly focus on jobs, roads, farmers, water, food, social services etc. i hope this is very simple english so u and your like minded friends can understand.

Thanks

Bengaluru, Jun 27: Marijuana or ganja as it is known locally, has emerged as the most peddled and seized drug in Karnataka in the first six months of 2020, a police officer has said, commemorating the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

"As many as 510 ganja cases have been registered, leading to the seizure of 312 kg of ganja in 2020," Central Crime Branch (CCB) Deputy Commissioner of Police Kuldeep Jain told media perrsons on Friday.

Cases and seizures of other drugs paled in comparison to Marijuana. Only one case each has been registered on Brown Sugar, Opium and other drug forms.

Hashish was the only other seized narcotic which weighed more than a kg at 17 kg, rest all were under a kg.

Other banned substances included charas, cocaine and MDMA.

Police also seized 91 papers of LSD and 550 tablets belonging to the Yaba, Restyl, Anxit and Nitrosun category of drugs.

Similarly, 781 Indians and 14 foreigners have been arrested in the drugs cases.

Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Director General of Police Praveen Sood and Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao were among the officials who commemorated the event which recognised police staff who cracked drug cases.

"Bommai reaffirmed the pledge to fight against drugs and continue the policy of zero tolerance (of drug abuse)," Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil said.

Police showcased the seized haul of drugs to Bommai in the past one year, and the minister later rewarded the policemen involved in cracking the drugs cases in Karnataka.

Bommai and the police officials took a pledge to fight drugs on the occasion.

"The Karnataka police has been taking strict action against the drug peddlers while at the same time creating awareness among youth," added JCP Sandeep Patil.

Police also roped in celebrities such as Milana Nagaraj, Darling Krishna and former cricketer Anil Kumble to send across a social message to give up drugs.

Shivamogga, May 21: An FIR has been registered against Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi in Sagar taluk of Shivamogga district of Karnataka over tweets on May 11 by the party's official handle about PM-CARES fund.

The FIR, registered under Sections 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot) and 505 (statements conducing to public mischief) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), identifies Gandhi as the handler of the social media account.

The complaint by advocate Praveen KV alleged that the Congress party, through the tweets, has made rumourous statements against the Government of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and was trying to provoke the people against the government.

According to the FIR, the Congress party had on May 11, 2020, made false and baseless allegations, claimed misappropriation of PM-CARES Fund and cast aspersions on the Government of India through the tweets.

"A Twitter account handled by All India Congress Committee headed by Sonia Gandhi had on May 11, 2020, published tweets terming PM CARES Fund as PM CARES Fraud. They had claimed that the PM CARES fund is not being used for the public," Praveen KV told ANI on Thursday.

He said that he has collected all the details related to the tweets and account from the handle and filed a complaint in the matter, following which a preliminary enquiry was conducted and an FIR was registered in the matter.

"They had also said that the Prime Minister was enjoying and going to foreign trips with this fund. This is clearly rumourous news against the Government of India in this COVID-19 pandemic situation. In this regard, I had filed a complaint. After a primary enquiry, the Sagar Police has filed an FIR against Sonia Gandhi, who heads the INC Twitter account," Praveen KV said.
