Mangaluru, Mar 2: Within six months Ullal and Mulky taluks will be formed, according to Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister U T Khader. The Cabinet has already approved a proposal submitted by the minister to create two more taluks and the process of bifurcation is expected to begin begin soon.

Speaking to media persons here today, Mr Khader said that the formation of Ullal and Mulky taluks will speed up administrative mechanism and help people get their government works done easily.

“I am happy that the Cabinet has approved proposals submitted to create Ullal and Mulky taluks. Formation of new taluks will be beneficial not only for the people in the region, but also the entire district,” he said.

“Mangaluru taluk has a population of over 10 lakh. Creation of new taluks will reduce the burden on Mangaluru taluk and at the same time people in the newly formed taluks need not travel to the city for various official processes. Administrative process, implementation of government schemes and development works will become smooth after the formation of new taluks,” Khader said, adding that the government will appoint sufficient number of staff for the new taluks.

New taluks will be getting Mini Vidhana Soudhas, taluk offices, RTOs, courts, fire stations, town halls, Ambedkar Bhavans, taluk hospitals and other taluk-level facilities, the minister said, adding that it may take another 6-7 months to complete the process of new taluk formation.

“We have already submitted the proposed maps for Ullal and Mulky taluks. Area delimitation will be finalized after inviting suggestions and objections from general public,” he added. Meanwhile, the newly formed Kadaba and Moodbidri taluks will be inaugurated by revenue minister R V Deshpande on March 7.
