Hassan, Mar 10: Four persons including a women and child killed and two others injured when a state-run Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus collided with a car at Maranahalli in Sakaleshpur in the district in the wee hours on Sunday.
Police said that victims travelling in the car were coming from Sakleshpur collided head-on against the Bus which was coming from Mangaluru.
Police rushed to the spot ad cleared off the traffic, and also rushed the injured to the nearby hospital.
Udupi, Jan 7: Eshapriya Teertha Swamiji, who was appointed as the junior Swamiji of Admar Math, would be ascending the 'Paryaya Peeta' for the first time on January 18, Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji of Admar Math said.
Speaking to the media at Admar Moola Math at Admar near Padubidri on Monday night Vishwapriya Teertha Swamiji of Admar Math said, 'I had performed my first Paryaya in 1988-90 with the help of Shri Vishwapriya Teertharu.
'The second Paryaya was performed independently by the order of Shri Vibudhesha Teertharu in 2004-06.
Mandya, Feb 17: About 40 passengers were injured in a collision between a KSRTC bus and a tipper lorry near Srirangapatna in the district on Monday.
Police said that the incident occurred when the bus was stopped to allow passengers to alight when the tipper lorry rammed against the bus.
The victims have been admitted to the Taluk hospital and the severely injured have been shifted to a hospital in Mysuru.
Udupi, Jan 22: Writer Richie John Pais will be conferred with the Best Konkani Book Award, instituted by Dr T M A Foundation in recognition of his contribution made to Konkani Language and Literature.
According to a statement, the Award carries Rs 10,000 in cash and a citation.
‘Fathor’, a collection of Konkani short stories authored by Richie John Pais was published in 2017 has been chosen for the Dr TMA Foundation Best Konkani Book Award 2018.
