Four Keralite youth who went Syria to joined IS reportedly killed

Kannur, Jan 30: The police on Wednesday confirmed that four persons belonging to Kannur were killed in Syria.

According to police, four out of the 10-member group, including women and children of two families here, who joined the banned IS late last year, were killed in an encounter in Syria recently.

Police said, according to information received from the Central Agencies,  two young women and their husbands and six children (three from each family) had joined the IS in Syria last year. Police received information that Popular Front of India (PFI) activists T V Shameer and his wife joined the IS first, followed by Anwar and family.
 
Anwar and family had left Kannur on November 19, 2018 in the pretext of a tour to Bangalore. But they did not return till this date. Following a missing complaint from their relatives, Police investigation team found that the family had gone to Syria, through Iran.
 
Police suspects the death of Anwar, Shameer and his two children Safwan and Salman during an encounter with Syrian police. Meanwhile, there is no information about the rest of their family members, police sources revealed.
 
According to information received by Kannur police, around 35 persons from Kannur district alone had joined to IS so far. There are 15 Keralites were killed in an encounter with Syrian Defence force in  last year alone.

Mangaluru, June 29: An elderly man, who was under quarantine at a lodge was inhumanly dragged on the floor and abandoned on the roadside by his own son. 

The shocking incident occurred in broad daylight at Deralakatte on the outskirts of the city today. 

The father and son are said to be natives of Uppala in Kasaragod district. The duo stayed in a hotel room at Deralakatte after returning from Mumbai a few days ago. 

Today the son dragged his father mercilessly on the floor and escaped after abandoning him on the road side. A CCTV camera has captured the incident. 

The jurisdictional Konaje police are trying trace the miscreant.

Bengaluru, Jan 10: To deal with the problem of animal waste and illegal slaughterhouses in Bengaluru, Mayor M Gowtham Kumar held discussions with concerned departments and consultants to devise a strategy.

Speaking to ANI, Kumar said, "There are some illegal slaughterhouses in and around Bengaluru. We had a discussion with our Special Commissioner (Health) and Chief Health Officer (CHO) also to take up necessary action. We had a discussion last week also."

He also stated that a program has been framed to find illegal slaughterhouses and to shift animal waste generated every day.

"We have framed a program to find illegal slaughterhouses and design them properly. We have planned with our consultants that for the animal waste generated daily, we need four compactors to shift it either to Hoskote or another place that we have identified. We are on it", he said.

The segregation of animal waste and illegal slaughterhouses has been a continued issue in the Bengaluru civic area, a relief from which is expected after the implementation of proposed steps.

Mysuru, Mar 3: Three leopard cubs were rescued by a team of Forest Department in Mysuru on Tuesday.

The cubs were found in a sugarcane field and came into notice of a farmer while cutting the sugarcane.

The villagers alerted the forest department which rescued the three cubs.
