Bengaluru, Aug 20: In a bizarre incident, a four-year-old boy accidentally swallowed a small idol of a Hindu goddess' in Raichur. Fortunately, a doctor managed to retrieve the idol from the boy's stomach without any surgery.

idol"The idol was gifted to us five days ago by our neighbours. My son Saiprakash was so fond of that idol that he carried it everywhere he went, including his school,", said the boy's father Kashinath, who is a primary school teacher.

On Thursday the boy complained to his mother of nausea. She had an inkling that he might have swallowed the idol and looked around the house for it.

When she couldn't find it, she realised that he had swallowed it and called up Kashinath who was away at school. The boy was immediately rushed to Clarity Diagnostic Centre for further check-up and he was put through a series of tests.

Dr Vishwanath Reddy, the treating gastroenterologist, said, "Through an X-ray we confirmed that an idol (4cms x 3cms) was stuck in the abdomen of the child and luckily it had not reached the small intestine. We had to remove the idol immediately because we were not sure what the idol was made off and this could release a lot of toxins and chemicals hazardous to the child's life."

The doctors decided that surgery was not an option as it meant prolonged hospitalisation and since it was a child, it could be dangerous.

"We finally used a roth net retriever (resembling a fishing net) attached to an endoscope and retrieved the foreign object. The chal lenge was that we had to take it off in a longitudinal direction because if we took it out in a latiitudinal direction it would have harmed the food pipe causing injury to the child. The whole procedure lasted about 20 minutes and finally the idol was out."

Because of being in the abdomen for about four-five hours, it had degenerated.

NA TASYA PRATIMA ASTI...There is no image of God... Idols are not God... and dont worship the idols which can be played and eaten.
Idols are a created thing and Man made creation..
Worship the CREATOR not his CREATION..
Those who are honest, Ask directly with the one who put soul in YOU.. He will show his sign when we trust him... No need for any intermediate... TRY it.

Oh God the one who put soul guide me to TRUTH.. if U are honest, No doubt, U will find him... God willing

Karwar, Jun 3: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert, predicting thundershowers and heavy rainfall over north interior Karnataka, coastal Dakshina Kannada and Udupi over the next three days.

With Cyclone Nisarga hitting the Uttara Kannada coast on Tuesday,  parts of coastal Karnataka received heavy rainfall. Gusty winds tore through the coastal towns, as the sea too turned violent with rough waves smashing the shore.

The alert was issued with the advancement of Nisarga from east-central Arabian Sea to north Maharashtra, and adjoining south Gujarat coast. “Though it does not cover Karnataka, the range of cyclonic winds is very big and reaches north interior Karnataka also.

So an alert has been called out,” CS Patil, director in-charge, IMD, Bengaluru, said. The weather department has forecast a severe cyclonic storm and then a depression. Patil said formation of systems is a common factor before the onset of the monsoon and they help in its advancement.

“Cyclone Nisarga is helping in the quick advancement of the southwest monsoon to Karnataka, and the monsoon is likely to arrive before the scheduled date as conditions are favourable,” he added.

Mangaluru/Udupi, May 20: Islamic scholars belonging to different schools of thoughts including two prominent Qadis have issued special guidelines asking all Muslims in the region to offer prayers and celebrate Eid al-Fitr at home this year in keeping with the extended covid-19 lockdown.

Eid al-Fitr which marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan is rather a ‘humanitarian event’ than a fiesta. This year Eid is likely to be observed in coastal Karnataka on May 23 or May 24 depending on sighting of the new moon.

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the Muslims are preparing for — and reconciling itself to — a most unusual Eid bereft of all the usual trappings like huge prayer congregations, ceaseless shopping, social visits and the inviting warmth of an Eid Mubarak embrace.

In their separate messages, Udupi Qadi Bekal Ibrahim Musliyar and Mangaluru Qadi Twaqa Ahmed Musliyar have urged Muslims to refrain from all kinds of public gatherings during Eid. Noting that Muslims in the region have followed all the advisories in issued by the government to contain the spread of coronavirus in the blessed month of Ramadan, they have urged them to follow the guidelines during Eid too.

On social media groups, messages like “no new clothes, just wear your best clothes” are being circulated among family and friends, urging people to fill the festive void with the spirit of giving. The suggestions range from paying a needy child’s school fee or someone’s rent to helping a lockdown-hit trader revive his business.

Following guidelines are issued by the top clerics ahead Eid

1) There will be no Eid prayer in mosques or Eid-gahs. Hence, Muslims should offer Eid al-Fitr prayer in their homes with family members.

2) Distributing Zakat al-Fitr among needy is mandatory. However necessary safety measures should be taken while going out such as wearing masks and maintaining physical distance. As there is lockdown from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. every day, Zakat al-Fitr can be distributed a day before Eid or on the day of Eid before evening.

3) Women, children and elderly people should not step out of the houses.

4) Avoid visiting graveyards or other places.

5) All mosques are closed due to lockdown. Hence, observe Eid in a simple way and set an example for the society.

6) Strictly follow all the guidelines issued by the state and central governments

Bengaluru, Feb 19: Congress MLA UT Khader on Wednesday slammed the Central government over the enactment of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and said it violates the Constitution.

"The new citizenship amendment bill is unconstitutional. The citizenship cannot be given on cast and creed basis. Because of these things we are fighting against it," he said while speaking to media in Bengaluru.

Opposition along with several non-BJP state governments, including Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Kerala, Punjab and Rajasthan have refused to implement the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the proposed NRC in their respective states.

The CAA grants citizenship to Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Parsi, Buddhist and Christian refugees from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, who came to India on or before December 31, 2014.
