Udupi, Feb 3: A foreign national has tested positive for the Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD or monkey fever) and is receiving treatment at Kasturba Hospital in Manipal here.
The hospital on Saturday said that the patient is 33 years old woman and is from France.
Sources in the Department of Health and Family Welfare said here that the woman was visiting the tourist spot of Yana in Uttara Kannada district and got infected with the virus.
She was referred to the hospital from Kumta.
Meanwhile, a monkey each was found dead in Manipura and Hallihole villages in Udupi district. There have been no positive cases of KFD among people in Udupi so far, the department said.
