Bengaluru, Sept 6: Across the country, thousands have come out to protest the brutal murder of activist-journalist Gauri Lankesh.
Protest meets were held in Chennai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Mysuru, Manglauru Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and other places.
Gauri Lankesh was shot dead by unidentified assailants on September 5. A Special Investigation Team headed by an IG-level officer would be constituted to exclusively investigate the murder of Gauri Lankesh.
Kalaburagi, Feb 22: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Waris Pathan was booked for his alleged remark against the Hindu community in his speech during an anti-CAA rally held here recently, police sources said on Saturday.
According to police sources, the FIR was registered against the AIMIM leader, following a complaint lodged by a woman advocate on Friday evening.
Taking strongly about the incident, the Karnataka Home minister Basavaraj Bommai had directed the Kalaburagi city police commissioner to submit a report on the incident.
It may be recalled that the AIMIM leader, in his speech at a rally held in the city on February 15 had said that if all the 15 crore minority populations in the country stand united they could take on 100 crore Hindu population.

New Delhi, May 20: In further relaxation of lockdown rules, domestic flights will begin operations from May 25 in a calibrated manner. Currently, only cargo and evacuation flight services are allowed.
The nationwide lockdown to halt the spread of coronavirus is in place till May 31. However, certain relaxations have been allowed.
All airports and air carriers are being informed to be ready for operations from next week, tweeted civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
The standard operating procedures for passenger movement will be separately issued by the ministry, said the minister.
