Bengaluru, Sept 6: Across the country, thousands have come out to protest the brutal murder of activist-journalist Gauri Lankesh.
Protest meets were held in Chennai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Mysuru, Manglauru Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and other places.
Gauri Lankesh was shot dead by unidentified assailants on September 5. A Special Investigation Team headed by an IG-level officer would be constituted to exclusively investigate the murder of Gauri Lankesh.
Mangaluru, Jul 6: Two fresh deaths in last 24 hours have taken the total number of covid-19 deaths in Dakshina Kannada district to 24.
The deceased are a 52-year-old woman from Ullal and a 52-year-old man from Thokkottu.
The man was suffering from cardovascular disease and pneumonia, sources said.
The woman passed away in Wenlock hospital.

Belagavi, Mar 7: Karnataka Urban Development Minister B A Basavaraj on Saturday said that government would a take decision very soon regarding conducting city corporations election in the state.
Speaking with the media after review meeting at Belagavi city corporation (BCC) here he further said that delimitation exercise of the wards has to be done followed by reservations.
The minister stated that discussions would be held with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and would arrive at a decision to conduct the election in about a month’s time.
Mangaluru, May 5: The Dakshina Kannada district administration has denotified two containment zones, Sampya in Puttur and Thumbe in Bantwal. They were declared containment zones after one coronavirus positive case was reported from each area.
All the primary and secondary contacts of the patients have completed home quarantine period, said DC Sindhu B Rupesh.
The district administration hitherto had already denotified three other such containment zones based on a report of DHO, after no new case was reported in the area in the last 28 days.
At present, the district has six containment zones-- Shakthinagara, Boloor, First Neuro Hospital in Mangaluru city, Uppinangady in Puttur, Kasaba and Narikombu in Bantwal taluk.
