Bengaluru, Oct 19: Five days after releasing sketches of suspects in the Gauri Lankesh murder case, along with a video grab showing a motorcycle rider near Gauri's residence, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the killing of the journalist-activist said they have made no major breakthrough as the face of the rider was not visible.
MN Anuchet, deputy chief, SIT, said that despite using the best technology available, they could not see the face of the rider. A man, wearing a white shirt and a black helmet, is seen riding a red Bajaj Pulsar motorbike. According to SIT sleuths, the man is the prime suspect. "We tried our best to get a clear picture of the face of the rider but in vain. The motorbike's licence plate too is not visible," Anuchet said.
SIT sources said they verified the names and addresses of those who own red Bajaj Pulsars across the state. "We questioned around 1.2 lakh men who own red Bajaj Pulsars. Yet, we haven't got a definite lead. We suspect the bike could have been brought to the city from neighbouring states," senior police officials said. Unidentified motorists shot dead Gauri Lankesh outside her residence in RR Nagar, West Bengaluru on September 5.
