"Neighbours and friends said the family may have decided to commit suicide as their elder daughter had eloped with her lover on Monday morning. During investigations, we found that the girl had an inter-caste marriage some time back. But the family was not aware of it till Monday when the girl left home without informing anyone," DySP Bhagwat Singh Hingar told a news paper.

This came as a big shock for the family who tried to locate the girl. However, later in the afternoon, they allegedly decided to end their lives.

Sharma didn't go to school on Monday and put up a board outside their home cancelling tuitions for the day. "We found an empty bottle of poison and four glasses in the house. They drank poison and vomited all over," Hingar said.

Death note

A note found at the victims’ house said they were committing suicide of their own free will. “We are committing suicide and after our death, our property will belong to my brother Purshotam,” a note read.
