Girl torturedBangalore, Nov 21: For the 'crime' of discovering her father in bed with her aunt, 16-year-old Nasreen had to pay an inexplicable price.

She was tortured for over a year by her own father who also allegedly sexually assaulted her on numerous occasions, and even allowed their housemaid's brother to participate in the heinous crime.

Acid attacks

It was only discovered later that the father had an illicit affair with their housemaid too, and would frequently threaten to throw acid on his daughter's face if she didn't treat the maid like her own mother.

The victim, a resident of Vasanthnagar, was reportedly being harassed by her father Wasim, aunt Muskaan, the maid Firdouse, and her brother Tanveer.

Unable to cope with Wasim's illicit affairs, his wife (Nasreen's mother) is said to have left him a few months ago.

One fine day almost a year ago, when Nasreen (then 15) returned home, she was shocked to see her father in bed with his brother's wife.

Death threat

She immediately tried to run away from the house, but her father reportedly held on to her and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the matter to her mother.

Fearing harm to her and her mother, Nasreen kept quiet about the incident.

This silence proved costly.

It is alleged that he would forcibly make her watch him have sex with her aunt on several occasions, besides molesting Nasreen, an investigating officer said.

He reportedly forced her to keep the bathroom door open while she bathed, and entered the room when she changed her clothes.

This went on for almost a year and Nasreen's father and the aunt regularly threatened to pour acid on her face if she even hinted about his illicit relationship with her aunt to anyone.

Unending atrocities

Subsequently, when she discovered that her father was also having an affair with the maid, the latter's brother exploited the opportunity of letting his sister carry on with the illicit affair in exchange for molesting Nasreen and sexually exploiting her.

The victim approached the police and gathered the courage to narrate her plight, the officer said.

Both the men have been booked under sections 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act along with section 354 and 506 of the IPC. "The victim has given us her statements; and the case is still under investigation as it is highly complicated," the officer added.

Sandeep Patil, DCP (Central), told Bangalore Mirror that there was a large history to the case.

"Our investigations revealed that the victim's mother left home a few months ago, claiming she was being harassed by the accused. It is then that the sexual advances towards the victim increased, according to her statements.

There appear to be many disturbing twists to this case, which we are thoroughly investigating. Everyone connected with the incident is being summoned and questioned before we can take any action," he said.

Hyderabad, MAY 28: A three-year-old boy who accidentally fell into a newly drilled open borewell in Telangana's Medak district was found dead in the early hours of Thursday, police said.

The kid's body was retrieved at around 4 am after a nearly 10 hours' long rescue operation involving different agencies, they said.

"He died a while before we evacuated him, most likely due to the mud that covered him from the top sealing off necessary oxygen supply, " Medak District Superintendent of Police Chandana Deepti told PTI.

The boy had accidentally slipped into the 120- feet borewell at around 5 pm on Wednesday in an agricultural field located in Papannapet mandal of the district when he was walking with his grandfather and father, police earlier said.

As part of rescue efforts, a parallel trench was dug along the borewell hole with the help of earth excavating machines and oxygen was supplied into it, but the efforts went in vain as the boy's body was found stuck at a depth of around 25 feet, the police said.

Apart from the police, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel were also involved in the rescue operation.

The borewell into which the child fell was one among the three dug by the family since Tuesday night to try and find water for their fields. But none of them yielded any water, police had said.

A man posed as Superintendent of Police (SP), called up a subordinate police official and asked him to get his mobile phone repaired or face the consequences. But, his bluff was later called and the man landed in lockup.

Azamgarh SP Triveni Singh said the 23-year-old youth, Shubham Upadhyay, is the son of a farmer. He was preparing for competitive exams when his phone developed a snag on Saturday. He tried to reach out to local mechanics, but they were unavailable to fix it due to the lockdown.

Upadhyay used a free caller identification app to call up the in-charge of the Kotwali police station, K. K. Gupta, and threatened to shunt him out, if he failed to swiftly get the work done. Gupta grew suspicious and eventually caught the youth.

n his statement to the police, Shubham Upadhyay said, "On Sunday noon, I tried to breach the district borders to reach Lucknow to repair my phone, but since there was heavy police presence and barricading, I returned home. Later, I installed a free caller identification app in my handset and mentioned the name as SP Azamgarh and even uploaded a photo of the cop to appear genuine."

He first called SHO, Kotwali to get the phone repaired and was told the handset would be picked up from the SP office in an hour. Then, he called a businessman to bring his SUV and hand over his mobile to the SHO.

But when Upadhyay called the police again to suggest a separate meeting point, he raised suspicion. When the SHO tried to confirm the venue, Upadhyay got hesitant and said he would send a peon.

"I suddenly realised something was fishy and rang up the public relation officer of SP Azamgarh, who denied any such order from the SP. When the caller's number was scanned, it displayed the name of SP Azamgarh," said SHO Gupta.

A trap was laid and when the SHO reached the venue, he found one Praveen Shukla sitting in the vehicle. Police got the address of the accused from Shukla and reached Upadhyay's home in Bilariya locality and arrested him.

Upadhyay has been booked under IT Act and for threatening a public servant.
