Bengaluru, Apr 28: Leading Kannada Sandalwood actor, Darshan has opined that farmers could hardly benefit from the State Government’s farm loan waiver scheme but they need better returns for their farm produce.
Speaking at an Engineering college function in the city, on Saturday, Darshan taking a dig at the Chief Minister, H D Kumaraswamy’s flagship programme, loan waiver scheme of over Rs 40,000 crore, he said that “Instead of loan waiver scheme, it is better if the farmers get a better price for their produces”.
Darshan had extensively campaigned for the independent candidate, Sumalatha in hotly contested the Mandya Lok Sabha seat against JD(S) candidate Nikhil K, son of Kumaraswamy.
Kumaraswamy had promised to waive off a one-time farm loan availed by the farmers, both from the co-operative institutions as well as from the Public Sector banks, and had won as many as 38 Assembly seats in the 2018 Assembly elections and formed a coalition government with the Congress in Karnataka.
