Going to fulfill all my promises, says Karnataka CM after winning trust vote

Bengaluru, May 25: Newly elected Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumarraswamy on Friday said that he will fulfill all the promises made by him to the citizens of of the state.

Talking to news agency, the Chief Minister said that he is not going to care about the state-wide bandh on May 28 called by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the issues of farmers' loans waiver.

"The real action will start now, whatever promises I have made to the citizens of Karnataka, I am going to fulfill them. I am not going to care about this threat (BJP to call state-wide bandh on May 28 on the issue of farmers' loans waiver)," Kumaraswamy said.

Earlier in the day, Kumaraswamy comfortably passed the floor test today, after the BJP MLAs staged a walkout from the Vidhana Soudha (state assembly).

With this, he successfully proved his majority in the state assembly.

The BJP walked out from the state assembly after BJP state Chief B.S. Yeddyurappa said his party will hold a state-wide bandh on May 28, if Kumaraswamy did not waive off farmer loans.

The Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) alliance together with two independent candidates have 117 MLAs, six more than the majority required to form a government in the state. All the 117 MLAs voted in Kumaraswamy's favour.

Bengaluru, Apr 29: Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday clarified that Department of Telecommunications has extended the relaxed terms and conditions for VPN till July 31.

"Wish to clarify that it is not extension of WFH. In response to IT Industry's request to facilitate WFH for OSPs, Department of Telecommunications, India had relaxed terms and conditions for VPN till April 30 After discussions with IT Ministers this relaxation in terms and conditions is extended till July 31," Prasad Tweeted quoting Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka Dr Ashwath Narayan.

Earlier, the Karnataka government issued a press statement saying that the central government has given permission to IT professionals to work from home till July 31 in the view of COVID-19 pandemic.

Mangaluru, Mar 23: Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Monday announced to enhance surveillance along the coastline of Karnataka to strengthen security.

It has tasked its hovercraft in New Mangalore, and high-speed patrol vessels and interceptor boats along the coastline for ensuring foolproof security of the uninhabited islands, Deputy Inspector General S B Venkatesh, Commander, Coast Guard, Karnataka, said in a release today.

The amphibious hovercraft have been deployed for near to coast patrol, to facilitate smooth execution of search and rescue operations and security cover over land and riverine route. Please log in to get detailed story.

Mangaluru, Jan 4 The International Kite Festival, will be the main attraction of the Karavali Utsav being held here from January 10-19.

Deputy Commissioner Sindhu Roopesh said on Saturday that a variety of cultural programmes are scheduled on the occasion of Karavali Utsav being organized by the DK District Administration at the Karavali Utsav grounds, Kadri Park and Panambur Beach.

Cultural programmes will be presented by budding local artistes of State, National and International fame. All facilities for the cultural programmes will be set up at the Kadri park and Karavali Utsav grounds.

The programme will begin with a cultural procession from Nehru Maidan on 10 January followed by the Inauguration at the Karavali Utsav grounds.
