Bengaluru, Oct 21: The state government has decided to go ahead with Tipu Jayanthi celebrations on November 10 despite opposition from the Sangh Parivar.
Home Minister G?Parameshwara held a review meeting on Thursday to discuss security arrangements across the state in the run-up to the celebrations. The main event will be organised at Vidhana Soudha by the Department of Kannada and Culture. Tipu Jayanthi programmes will also be held at all taluk and district headquarters.
Bengaluru, Jul 19: A man protested in front of Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa's residence on Saturday alleging lack of medical care claimed the life of his one-month-old infant girl, police said on Saturday.
Venkatesh sat with the baby's photograph in front of the Chief Minister's house, saying the girl developed health issues on July 11 and he rushed her to a hospital, but it turned him away, the police said.
He said he had approached about a dozen hospitals and all of them refused to provide the baby any medical care. Eventually, the baby died.
This forced Venkatesh to hold a protest to draw the Chief Minister's attention to the issue, the police said.
The demonstration drew public attention and a few people joined him in the protest, they said.
Udupi, May 21: In a shocking development, as many as 27 fresh coronavirus positive cases were reported in the coastal district of Udupi today.
Another shocker is, 16 among 27 covid-19 patients are children. The rest are six men and five women.
Interestingly, all of them have inter-state travel history. 23 had come from Maharashtra and 3 from Telangana. Another one had come from Kerala to Manipal. More details are awaited.
Mangaluru, Apr 23: Playing the role of a good samaritan, the owner of a commercial complex and houses has waived off a month’s rent at Panemangalore in Bantwal.
B H Complex owner Mohammed Hassan has waived the rent of 21 shops and 12 houses in the complex. Due to Lockdown, people are without jobs and are struggling to eke out a living and Mr Hassan's good gesture helps them.
Hailing from Barimaru, Mr Hassan, who was working in foreign country, has come down and settled here. He had constructed houses and commercial complex and was living on the rent he was receiving.
