Lucknow, Jul 16: The Uttar Pradesh government has fixed a target to provide jobs to 70 lakh people in five years, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Saturday.yogi

"UP is a state with immense possibilities.... We have fixed a target of providing jobs to 70 lakh people in five years, of which 10 lakh jobs will be provided through the vocational education and skill development departments," he said at a function to mark the World Youth Skills Day.

Stressing on a better coordination among the agriculture, dairy, small industry and industrial development departments in order to achieve this target, Yogi Adityanath said the youth needed to be made aware of the benefits of skill development.

Asserting that no one was incapable in this world, he said "giving a direction" to the youth by making them skilled was a "matter of pride".

On the occasion, the chief minister inaugurated or laid the foundation of 101 schemes of the vocational education and skill development departments.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the government and the Rajasthan Spinning and Weaving Mills, Bhilwara.

As per the MoU, the mill will train 26,000 trainees in the textile, retail and apparel sector over a period of four years.

Yogi Adityanath said besides agriculture, textile was another sector which could generate the maximum number of jobs in the state.

Underlining the need to reopen the textile mills, which were closed down in the state, he said this would open up the employment opportunities "in a big way".

New Delhi, Jan 7: A fringe right-wing group calling itself the Hindu Raksha Dal has purportedly taken responsibility for the attack on students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in a video posted on social media.

The video, which was posted on social media on Monday and has gone viral since then, shows a man identifying himself as Pinki Chaudhary saying that those who resort  to “anti-national activities” will be treated in the same way that JNU students and faculty were.

He later told news channels that others involved in "anti-national activities" would face similar attacks.

There was no immediate reaction from the police on Chaudhury's claims.

“For several years, JNU has been a bastion of communists and we will not tolerate it. Hindu Raksha Dal, Bhupendra Tomar, Pinki Chaudhury take the responsibility of what has happened in JNU...all of them were our volunteers. Those who cannot do such work for Mother India don't have the right to live in this country,” Chaudhary is seen saying in the video.

“We are always ready to sacrifice our lives for Mother India. We will not tolerate anyone who speaks against the religion,” he added.

Efforts to reach the man were unsuccessful: his phone was switched off.

More than 35 students were injured Sunday when a masked mob went on the rampage, attacking students and professors and vandalising property. The JNUSU has accused the RSS-affiliated ABVP volunteers of attacking the students.

Bhadohi, Feb 11: With just two days left for the State Budget Session, a widow from Uttar Pradesh''s Bhadohi district has accused BJP MLA Ravindranath Tripathi and six others of sexual harassment over the years, the police said.

The incident is likely to cause considerable embarrassment to the ruling Yogi Adityanath government.

Bhadohi Superintendent of Police (SP) Ram Badan Singh said: "The woman, whose husband died in 2007, met the BJP MLA Ravindranath Tripathi''s nephew in 2014. She said that she was physically exploited by him for many years on the pretext of marriage."

The complainant also said that the nephew then got her lodged in a Bhadohi hotel for about a month during the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, "where she was raped by the MLA and his other family members".

The case has been handed over to the Additional Superintendent of Police for further investigations.

A case is yet to be registered.

The Uttar Pradesh Budget Session starts from Thursday.
