Govt offers 'petticoat','dupatta' to female canteen employees

New Delhi, Jan 18: Female canteen employees in central government departmental canteens who wear sarees will get a 'petticoat' while those who don salwar kameez will be given a 'dupatta'.

"The matter regarding issue of uniforms to entitled female canteen employees has been reviewed and it has been decided to authorise issue of petticoat to entitled female canteen employees who wear saree and dupatta to those who wear salwar kameez in addition to already authorised articles of uniforms," said an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

At present, specified categories of canteen staff are being provided with the articles of uniform as per the administrative or functional requirements.

The pattern and scale (quantity) entitlement of uniforms being provided to the canteen employees is in accordance with their service conditions, nature of duties and responsibilities, as per existing norms.

They are also eligible for grant of washing allowance at the rate of Rs 30 per month.

As a measure of staff welfare, departmental canteens and tiffin rooms have been set up in the central government offices to make available beverages, snacks and meals prepared in hygienic conditions, to the employees during the working hours at reasonable rates.

There are 1,000 non-statutory departmental canteens and tiffin rooms functioning in various offices of the central government

Mumbai, Jul 15: In a mega investment announcement, Reliance Industries (RIL) Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Wednesday said that Google will invest ₹ 33,737 crore in Jio Platforms for an equity stake of 7.73%.

Google is investing at an equity valuation of ₹ 4.36 lakh crore, said an RIL regulatory filing.

"Jio Platforms Limited, a subsidiary of the Company, today signed binding agreements with Google International LLC pursuant to which Google would invest ₹ 33,737 crore for a 7.73 % equity stake in Jio Platforms Limited on a fully-diluted basis. Google is investing at an equity valuation of ₹ 4.36 lakh crore," it said.

The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals.

Speaking at the Annual General Meeting of RIL, Ambani said that he looks forward to working with investors in Jio Platforms in a collaborative way.

Making another major announcement, the RIL Chairman said that Jio has designed a complete 5G solution and it will be available for trials as soon as spectrum is available.

Mumbai, Mar 22: The total number of coronavirus positive patients in Maharashtra has risen to 74 with 10 more positive cases reported in the last 24 hours, officials said.

Of the 10 new cases, 6 are in Mumbai and 4 in Pune, they said on Sunday.

Earlier this week, a Covid-19 patient died in Mumbai.

New Delhi, Jul 7: Diesel price in the national capital on Tuesday touched an all-time high following a rate hike after a week-long hiatus.

Diesel price on Tuesday was increased by 25 paise per litre, according to a price notification of state-owned oil marketing companies.

This took the retail selling price of diesel to Rs 80.78 per litre in the national capital - the highest ever.

There was no change in petrol price for the 8th straight day, and it continues to be priced at Rs 80.43 per litre.

Rates vary from state to state depending on the incidence of local sales tax or VAT.

Petrol and diesel price were last revised on June 29.

In the last one month, diesel price has been increased on 23 occasions while petrol rates have risen 21 times.

The cumulative increase since the oil companies started the cycle on June 7, totals to Rs 9.17 for petrol and Rs 11.39 in diesel.

In Mumbai, petrol is priced at Rs 87.19 - unchanged since June 29, while diesel was hiked to Rs 79.05 a litre from Rs 78.83.
