Govt to roll out Aadhaar Pay for cashless transactions

New Delhi, Jan 28: Government will soon roll out Aadhaar Pay service that will enable people to make and receive payments using their Aadhaar number and biometrics.

aadharpay"We are going to start Aadhaar Pay. With this people will not require to carry their phone for payments. They can visit any merchant, share their Aadhaar number and verify themselves using biometrics to pay and receive money," Electronics and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said today.

As of now, 14 banks have come on board for Aadhaar Pay and the service will be launched soon, Prasad said told reporters. "We are in talks with other banks too. The service will be launched very soon," he informed.

Further, the Minister said, Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM), the common platform for making quick payments using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), has also been integrated with Aadhaar Enabled Payment System on Thursday.

Around 111 crore people in the country have Aadhaar numbers.

"There are 49 crore bank accounts linked to Aadhaar. Every month 2 crore accounts are being seeded with Aadhaar," Prasad said.

Bengaluru, Mar 30: Army personnel on Sunday distributed food packets and other essential items to the needy and sprayed Calcium Hypochlorite solution in Koramangala and Vanarpet areas amid the coronavirus lockdown.

The Central government had on Tuesday announced a 21-day lockdown in a bid to stop the spread of the deadly virus that has left several thousand dead globally.

A total of 979 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in India, informed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday.

Bengaluru, Jun 14: Karnataka's Health Department has shut down four city clinics for not reporting Influenza Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) cases, which are COVID symptoms, an official said on Sunday.

"We have shut four Bengaluru clinics for not reporting ILI and SARI cases," a health official told IANS.

The clinics are Namma Clinic at Sahakaranagar, Panchamukhi Specialty Clinic at Peenya 2nd Stage, Mathru Chaya Clinic at Sudhama Nagar in Bommanahalli and Nayak Hospital in Gayathri Nagar.

"We gave notice to 17 clinics for not reporting ILI and SARI medical conditions in patients. Out of the 17, 13 reverted that they did not do and will start reporting," said the official.

However, the four named clinics did not revert leading to their shutdown.

According to the official, the clinics failed to adhere to the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1987, Disaster Management Act, 2005 and others.

All medical facilities and hospitals should report all patients with ILI and SARI symptoms as many COVID positive cases have them as underlying conditions.

Mangaluru, July 10: Dakshina Kannada, which has emerged as one of the hotspots of covid-19 in Karnataka, has recorded at least six novel coronavirus related deaths in past 24 hours. 

According to sources, four people lost their battle with the novel coronavirus in Wenlock, the designated covid hospital. 

A 35-year-old man from Hosabettu, who was tested positive for COVID-19 recently, died at the Wenlock COVID hospital in the morning.

A 58-year-old woman from Thokkottu, a 67-year-old man from Ullal and a 65-year-old man from Falnir also passed away in the same hospital. 

Two other covid patients passed away in private hospitals. 

With this, the total number of death of covid patients in the district rose to 36.
