Mangaluru, Nov 9: The police are making elaborate arrangements to maintain law and order in Dakshina Kannada, as the State government sponsored Tipu Jayanti and Opposition BJP’s Parivartana Yatra are coinciding in this coastal district on Friday.

Security has been beefed up in Mangaluru city and other parts of the district, which had witnessed a series of untoward incidents and communal clashes earlier this year. Around 2,000 police personnel, 13 KSRP platoons and a RAF team have been deployed across vantage points in the district. Peace meetings also have been conducted at different places in the district.

Kamal Pant, ADGP (Law and Order), who is in the city to oversee security arrangements, said that the Mangaluru city police will focus on Tipu Jayanti celebrations while Dakshina Kannada district police will focus on the Yatra.

On the other hand, police also have started to list out all anti-social elements, rowdy-sheeters and others. They will be under police radar for couple of days and there will be a rowdy parade before November 10.

Pant warned that anti-social elements and trouble mongers would be dealt with an iron hand if they try to disturb law and order in the region. He clarified that no permission is given to any group to hold protests during Tipu Jayanti celebrations.
